Penguins
If You Go Down To The Zoo Today Friday afternoon and it has been raining all day. I have flown across Europe to experience the Central European summer and its raining. If I wanted Rain I would have stayed at home and sorry bout the length of this entry as I haven’t been able to get to a computer as the one in the hostel is always down and runs on Linux making putting pictures on impossible for me
After writing my last blog I wondered around Budapest for a bit, mindful that I had to meet my Hungarian friend Viktor at his university to help him in his job training his team. I wondered upon the Basicilla of St Stephen which was a huge grand church. I walked around and it was pretty cool. The best features were seeing the right hand of King Stephen; he died on 15th Aug in 1038. They dug up his grave and cut his right hand off and now they see it as a national treasure. As well as this I paid 500ft to climb the tower, up like 15 flights of spiral stairs to see some absolutely awesome views of Budapest. Anyways, I met up with Viktor and helped him
Budavari Labirintus
Deep Deep Underground then I wondered off home and went out with Dan to a nice bar in the Jewish quarter of Budapest ... this was to be an early night though as we finished drinking around about 2am
Saturday, I went up to City Park and checked out Hero’s Square. It is a monumental celebration, the statues are of national hero’s and Hungarian kings. Following this I wondered about a randomly found a toy and craft fair wondered round that for a bit. Then I did something that I haven’t done in ages, go to a zoo!!!! It was awesome I wondered round there for a couple of hours and watched the penguins for half an hours as they are my favourite animal. I went down to the Puskas Ferenc Stadium to watch a football game; I got there 30 minutes before kick off to be told that I couldn’t bring cameras into the ground. I was like well disappointed. I jumped back onto the Metro and headed towards to the Terror Museum, it was housed in a building that the Nazis and the Communists used to torture Hungarians that wouldn’t follow them, it was a real chilling and alighting experience
About 65 Cans and a Few Bottles of Wine Later
A Small Preportion of what was drunk in my last night in Budapest that makes you realise that we are real lucky that stuff doesn’t happen anymore. I met up with my Hungarian friend Emese and we went to the mall and did some shopping I came back to the hostel and then went out with the Austrian guys which was interesting, we went to this place called Jaffa which was quite funky and then randomly ended up in a hard rock / metal club which was shall we say, interesting!!!!!!
Sunday. Sunday was the day that I set off to Buda Palace which I thought was disappointing. The reason I say that is because there no information about the palace, there’s nothing to show you the major things and I ended up just wondering around. Next, I went to the Labyrinth, which was awesome I loved it. I spent 1300 Ft (£4) it was worth every penny. I wanted to go to the Military History Museum but it was closed as Sunday was a bank holiday. Wondered around and finally found the Fisherman’s Bastion and took in some outstanding views on Budapest. My last evening in Budapest, we stayed in and did some drinking games, 5 American guys, 2 American girls,
Margaret Island
The View from The Bridge an Aussie girl, Dan the Canadian and myself ... we drunk till about 4 in the morning when we all crashed. I woke up to the site of about 65 empty beer cans scattered all across the floor of the hostel.
