Our jacuzzi and balcony
What a difference between Athens and the islands! It is beautiful here! Joe and I slept late this morning (9:30am), which was good because it was the first night we slept past 6am, but bad because we almost missed our flight to Santorini. With a little luck and lots of running through the metro stations and airport, we made our 12:15 flight. The flight was about 50 minutes. Joe however, was not too happy on the small plane that we took. I reminded him that the other alternative to flying was a 9 hour boat trip. He relctantly agreed the flight was the lesser of two evils. All was worth it though when we finally landed, got our rental car (a Mercedes Smart car-which is WAY cute) and made it to our hotel. Our room sits on the edge of a cliff overlooking the caldera (volcano). We have an outdoor private jacuzzi and private patio. Our room is very mediterrainian with tile floors and the bedroom up in a loft facing the water. After we got settled we spend the remainder of the afternoon sitting on the balcony reading and relaxing while sipping some Greek wine. The weather today was in

Putting the jacuzzi to good use!
the mid 80's, although we've heard rumor it might rain tomorrow (keep your fingers crossed for us). This evening after it cooled down a bit we took our first dip in the jacuzzi. We have also made a kitty friend who spent the evening with us on our balcony.

Dinner tonight was the best we've had so far. Sauted calamari in olive oil and sundried tomamtos and basil. Believe it or not, Joe and I shared that, and I think he actally liked it!

Tomorrow were planning to do a little exploration and find a few beaches, maybe snorkle a little. There is a boat trip around the island, to the volcano and hot springs, then they drop you off at the bottom of the mountain and you can either walk to 400 steps up, take the gondola, or ride a mule. I, of course, want to ride the mule. Joe is presently refusing to do any of the three! More to come on that issue.

Well were off for another dip in the spa. Sorry abut the stupid pictures! The last two times weve done this I haven't had my camera or USB cord to download
