Hello Everyone!
Sorry we've been so slack in writing this blog! I don't know why it's taken this long to get organised, seeing as this is my birthday holiday! But oh well, here we go:
October 4th we left London - bit of a frustrating journey to Gatwick airport, rather forget that one (but thanks to my complaining skills, I managed to get credited the fare paid for that bus journey) We arrived in Corfu (one of the many Greek Islands) around lunch time, checked into our ALL INCLUSIVE hotel and changed out of our London clothes and into our beachwear! All inclusive hotels are awesome! Buffet meals, snacks, drinks (including alcohol) and entertainment all 'free' (as in included in the cost of the holiday) We cetainly made good use of that in our week there. Especially since meat is so expensive in London. Greek food is amazing! Craig had yiros meat everyday!
We spent a lot of time doing nothing in particular. Because that's what I wanted for my birthday. Our other holidays have been non-stop festivals and jam packed agendas, so i just wanted a relaxing break. We spent a fair bit of time on the
beach, I got to read, craig got to swim. Even i went in the water - which was so clear we could chase fish, and see the bottom! So beautiful.
The hotel put on live entertainment every night, and the night we arrived was a magic show. Craig loves magic. (who doesn't really!? but he LOVES it!) haha so we went and watched that. Craig was inspired and after making friends with the entertainment crew, he learned a few card tricks. so watch out! cos he's been practicing...
5th- We went on a boat cruise to the Blue Lagoon, and to another Island, Sivota, where we had the best vodka lemon sorbet cocktails! We stopped off at a few swimming places, where Craig was the master of finding hermit crabs and other weird sea creatures. We were driven into a cave which had the bluest water! Apparently they have boat parties there. This was an all day boat tour, and was really good. We even made it back in time for our buffet dinner!
6th- HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME! Today we planned to go out and visit Corfu Town, do some shopping and stay out for dinner
(cos I wanted seafood!) Up fairly early for my birthday, because those who know me, know i do not function in the mornings... We caught the last bit of breakfast, bacon and eggs... and then... birthday cake and champagne! Craig had been sneaky and organised the cake with my name on it and a bottle of champers, but because we were going to be out all day, we had it for breakfast. Needless to say I didn't eat lunch that day, and was a lil bit tipsy before 10am! haha! We spent the day shopping and strolling around corfu town. I got very spoilt and managed to get a few pieces of silver jewellery (corfu has very cheap handmade silver pieces which are gorgeous). We had the best fresh seafood for dinner at a fishing village called, Benitses. By the time we got back to our hotel, there was still 30mins left of buffet dinner... so we checked that out as well... chinese that night! haha!
7th- We went back to corfu town because Craig had the best yiros of his life there, and wanted another one... then we caught the bus to Achilleon Palace. Which is a touristy
FISH BITE
these fish kept chasing our feet and biting them! thing to do. It was alright... Casino Royale (James Bond) was filmed there in the casino on the top level, but this was closed off to visitors... which they only told us after we paid admission..
8th-11th- spent time visiting other villages. Great cocktails in Messoghi, souvenir shopping, eating local produce (seafood!!) and just relaxing. We played lots of cards, Craig taught me how to play chess... because I refused to play any more cards!! haha! We impressed some old people because we were a "lovely young couple"... lol! we tried every cocktail on the free list, and i finally found one i liked on the 2nd last day! We saw comedy, and dance shows, and had a really good time.
It was getting close to the end of season in Corfu, so it wasn't busy at all. June-August it's packed. But early october and we could do whatever we liked without lining up. Perfect for me!
Highly recommend Corfu. Sorry you couldn't make it to my birthday - it was awesome. Maybe next year? I'm thinking Vegas 😉
Over and out. xox
