Edit Blog Post

after all of my blabbering on my last blog entry, i realized i completely forgot to tell you why we are lost in translation. you see, we have managed to fill up two 1GB memory cards...so over 1900 pictures. and in the course of making sure we see everything and snap all those pictures, we have little time to transfer them onto a cd and then post them. well we decided that we would tackle that task today. so here we are at the biggest mall possibly in greece....very westernized...we feel very at home... except for the indoor smoking...and begin walking around to find a place to transfer our pictures so that we can erase the card and start over. which by the way, scares me half to death. but we walk all 4 levels and find a place that is sort of like a best buy, or circuit city and they have one of those machines that are often in kinkos where you do it yourself. and so i begin to select each individual picture because we have too many to put on one cd so we must individually select half and do two separate cd's. in the mean time, tony is told he must purchase two cd's. no prob. we get through what we thought would be the exhausting part and the "check out" screen pops up and then we need a password. we helplessly look at a few greecians and tone starts saying "excuse me....please....please" in greek. kind of like a kid that knows to motion please in sign language but then it's the guessing game until you figure out what it is they want. yea, so the games begin. this poor man wants to help so bad. he keeps motioning for us to use the other machine and speaking in greek while we answer back in english that we've already selected each picture on this one...we just need the password. bewildered this nice fella gets another guy who seems to know a little english. he tells tone that he must go pay the 3 euro and then they will give us a password. so off goes tony. i think i stood there for about 15 extremely long minutes as the worker bee that knew no english stood not even a foot behind me just looking over my shoulder. in the mean time, tony is trying to tell the cashier what he needs to pay for. suddenly her saying she understood english seems a little less likely and she finally calls for the aid of someone else. and then, right before tony returns, the man just hovering behind me, after uttering a few words in greek, enters the password and walks away! tony gets back from tim buck two and we get the pictures. thus, we go through this process twice until finally, we come to the internet cafe, and for some reason, not all of our pictures made it. *sigh* but we figure this....if this is our biggest frustration...our trip must be going pretty well. and it is.
until next time.
