Yesterday morning we had class at the Theater of Dionysus. It was built in 327 BC, but the area (on the side of the hill of the acropolis) started being used as a theater way before that, but the actual seating and stage wasn't built til 327 BC. Surprisingly, it is still in great shape and there hasn't been any restoration, so it's all original, which was great! For the theater class we had to pick a scene that we are going to memorize and act out next week and we had to have it picked by yesterday so we could do a practice round at the theater yesterday. So that was really amazing to be acting out these scenes from plays that were probably put on in that exact location over 2,000 years ago! Next week when we perform the scenes for real we are actually going to do them in another theater called the "Odeon of Herodeus Atticus" which is again, very close to the acropolis. But yea, then yesterday afternoon we wandered around the town for a while, it was really cold and windy! We went to the Parliament building and watched the changing of the guards, so

Our group for the performance next week. We are doing a scene from Aristophane's "The Birds."
that was neat. There were so many pigeons there! It was really gross because people were feeding them and letting them land on their arms and stuff, and it was just really disgusting. And then we just went back to the hotel and then had dinner and went to the dance lessons. Then later that night, about half the group went to a local bar that we had read about in the guide book. It was just a little hole in the wall place, but it was really cute and nice. So that was a lot of fun. 😊
Then today we went to the Cycladic Art Museum. That was ok. The art was cool, but it was very repetitive. It was the ones that have the faces with only the nose sticking out, and it was just a little strip on the face. And that's how almost all of the art was there. It was cool that it was so old, but just a little repetitive. Then we went to another museum... The Kerameikos. Again, it was just a lot of old sculptures. Neat, but not all that great. Then some of us went and got slouvaki for lunch. That was delicious 😊 and now I'm just back in the hotel and we have the dance lessons in a little bit!
