The train tracks.
Today was our first train ride of the trip. Our train didn't leave until later in the afternoon so we had the morning to stroll along Kurfürstendamm Strasse and make a few purchases. After retreving our bags from the hostel we went to the main train station and had a bite to eat for lunch. We got a little confused as to what train we were on because there were two trains listed on Platform 13 at 14:49. One was our train (ICE 556) and the other was an IC train. When the train arrived I asked the controller and she point to the end we were standing by and told us to get on there. Apparently the train splits later on. I don't pretend to understand but we got on where she pointed and it worked out fine. We rode erste klasse and it was nice! We had much more leg room than you get in second class, I could put my bag infront of my seat and still have leg room. There was an attendant that came around with free newspapers and you could order drinks from her. They also came around later and offered us free chocolate. I

really like travelling first class. We did have one connection to make in Hannover, we had 17 minutes, so plenty of time but of course not knowing what platform the new train is on, which platform you are arriving on or the layout of the new train station. We were extremely fortunate though, we arrived on platform it was a short stroll just across the platform to the waiting train. This train had compartments. We shared our apartment with an older man who kept alling asleep and a woman who kept writing in a journal. After an uneventful train ride we arrived in Bremen. We had a realtively easy time finding our hostel. They didn't have our reservation though, or it got cancelled or something, I am still not sure exactly what the story was. We did get a private room, it is a 3 person room rather than a 2 person one. The price was a bit higher than we expected but that is because we had to pay a city tax. We went to the grocery store (Lidl) as got some food for dinner before retiring back to our room for the night.
