We had an amazing time in Berlin. We stayed in the town of Charlottenburg just near to Charlottenburg Palace. There is plenty to do there and lots of history.

We visited the Treptower Park where there is a huge monument which is really impressive. It’s not only the huge statue in the centre but also the big square with all carved tombs alongside of the square reflecting the soldiers battling Berlin.

We also visited The Holocaust Memorial of different shapes and sizes of the tombstones is confusing. Worth spending a little time in peace there which makes you feel very sombre. When I walked through the tallest tombstone I felt as though they stood in silent of past wrongs. The closeness of the blocks can seem intimidating. It is a strange memorial.

We travelled around on bikes which was effortless really due to the city being flat. Everywhere you go there is a museum to see. At least 70% of the city was destroyed in the war so all the buildings look very new. The city from a view looks very grey and grim in comparison to other city’s but there are many interesting sight to see. The city is very cosmopolitan, lively and buzzing. The bars and restaurants are friendly

The Berlin East Side Wall was my favourite of all where The Berlin Wall approximately a mile long is covered with Art. Some political, some comical, but all are interesting to look at.
