Dunkin
Dunkin Doughnuts in honor of JFK Day 9 - Friday Today I am a Berliner! Let’s see if I can make a longstory short out of this one.
We began our day with a guided tour of Berlin. First by Debbie Noe then by our hired guide, Carolyn. She has been our guide now twice. She took us to old Berlin, checkpoint charlie, Russian Memorial and then to the Brandenburg Gate. Here's a story to think about.
I am a history lover, love politics and US presidents. And one of our favorite presidents is John F. Kennedy. So what if he is a democrat. He was probably the right man for the job at the right time. So he came to Berlin on June 26, 1963 and gave a speech at the Berlin wall.
Did he say: “Ich bin ein Berliner" or "Ich bin Berliner". Those who know me, know I like to make up words on the fly and at times, leave out a word or two. Those one or two words can make a huge difference in what one is saying. So did JFK say "I am a citizen of Berlin" or "I am a jelly doughnut."? I'll give him the
carolyn
Carolyn our tour guide near Checkpoint Charlie benefit and say he said he was a citizen of Berlin.
So while at the Brandenburg Gate, I said it both ways and to honor JFK, I ate three Dunkin Donuts. Yes, that’s right three. Dunkin Donuts is my all time favorite, jelly filled and bavarian cream.
So Berlin is filled with the old and new. We saw both. After the tour, the group split up and Carole went with others to the Berlin Zoo. I went with Marti and others to the Reichstag. Read more about this at

Here's the funny story for the day. We waited in line for 45 minutes to get in the Reichstag and when we got in, walked to the top of the glass structure, only to find Dr. Meyer, Dr. Root, Marlene, Rich and Scott. We asked how they got up here so fast? Answer, asserting a small disability can get you to the front of the line in no time. Tip of the day by Dr. Meyer.
So after the nice visit at the top of the Reichstag, Marti and I took off to find Ka de Wy by way of the city bus. We sat on On Top Of The World
Dr. Meyer, Dr. Root, Rich, Marlene, Eric, Scott taking a break at the Reichstag the top level of the bus per Rick Stevees recommendation. Thanks Rick for the tip. We stopped off at the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church and had another Dunkin Donut in honor of JFK, then walked to the Ka de Wy.
Ka de Wy is a fabulous and huge department store much like Harrods, but for the average working person. The food court looked so beautiful, we decided to eat there. I had lamb for dinner. Tasty but expensive. We got back on a bus and back to the hotel by 8 pm. From there, we caught up with another group across the street. More fun and laughs in Berlin.

Let me talk about blogging. Say, this writing is hard work. My friend Judy Serbern Beachy has a blog and writes daily. I do not know how she does it. So to her and all other bloggers, kudos to you. By the way Judy, thanks for the nice note on my trip. Here's the link to Judy's blog .
The trip moves on and today, Saturday, is a busy and thoughtful day re: Glass Bldg

LongStory Short,
