Rothenburg
Start of the City Center. We’ve been here for a week. Everyone is getting along just fine, thank you very much. Lots of laughter; lots of teasing.
Shower Day. Everyone wanted to take a shower before we started off to promote the pow wow this weekend. There is only one shower. Really, there are two showers, but one is “out of order.” No one should have been surprised that we were 1 ½ hours late getting out of the Ranch.
We went to the first town; it took an hour to get there through very windy roads. We drove to the center of the town. Unfortunately, we missed the crowd and should have gotten an earlier start. But we did a little drumming and singing and Tdom Bah and Jackie passed out fliers.
We picked up a few things: hair dryer for Mariah (not being able to dry and style her hair was just wrong!), antiseptic, anti itch cream for our skeeter bites. And still hot.
We went to another small town, Rothenburg. It’s really the only town in the area that survived in some way WWII. The ancient wall that surrounded the town is still intact or has been
Side Streets
The windy streets are fascinating. No straight lines in this place. reconstructed. We walked around for several hours, looking at shops, handing out fliers, being tourists and taking lots of pictures.
Will and Johnny braved the dungeons. Note the pictures of what they looked like after the dungeon tour. The rest of us said, “no thank you.”
We ran into another performer who will be with us this weekend. And then, yea! iced diet coke and ice cream at a cute little out door café by the town hall. Tearing ourselves out of the slight coolness of the shade by the café, we made our way back to our van and headed off to the Ranch.
We waited for dinner. And waited for dinner. Finally, someone came over and told us to head down the road and we would be fed. We walked past a camping area and past a pond pool to a small restaurant serving the campers. The pool is natural .. and green. We were served some type of brawt (seems like the meat of choice here) and a couple pounds of French fries. At least there wasn’t rice underneath the French fries. We had a little melt down about food … too much food
We're Walking
Like a Herd of Turtles. Really, what can anyone expect? We're tourists! and not too healthy. But we are walking a lot, so everyone is getting along okay.
The six of us spent the rest of the evening outside around a table just talking and laughing. We are dealing with being unsure of date and day and time. Not wanting to be late again, we made sure we all knew what time we had to be ready to head out tomorrow to do some more promoting.
It’s cooler here at the Ranch, especially at night. We are content.
