2018 Bucharest to Amsterdam

July 29, 2018. We had lunch on board the boat and disembarked at Kelheim. What little we saw of it was by the Danube and then from the bus windows when we immediately left the city. Our destination was the village of Bielngries where we broke into smaller groups and then were guests of local residents for a traditional kaffeeklatsch of pastry and coffee. Our group's hosts were a pleasant, friendly woman and her sweet young daughter. The father was at work on a local military base. The modern, very clean and neat house backed up on an inviting creek with willows and other houses along its banks.



We did not return to the River Adagio, our boat, because the summer had been very dry and the river was too shallow further upstream to accommodate our fully loaded boat. So we drove on to our next port, Nuremberg, where the Grand Circle Cruise Line, our tour company, had made reservations for us in a hotel.
