Why hello everyone! I realize it has been quite some time since I have entered something on this blogosphere; but with seeing Paris, the West of Ireland, etc etc (sorry, I don't mean to make you jealous!) there just hasn't been time! I do have some delectable pictures to show however, so trust me; it's worth the wait.
Since returning from Greece, my life has been all up in turmoil as usual. The contract for my job entered this phase of endlessness, although fortunately I officially finish the job on the 28th, hurray! So now I can move on to bigger and better things. Such as a 14-day tour around Eastern Europe! Amsterdam, Prague Berlin, Vienna, Venice, Rome...the list goes on, but the anticipation is killing me! Not to mention the worst head-cold in history, so needless to say I've been bundled up in bed so I can get better before my epic journey.
So let's get a quick run-down of my amazing trip to Paris. I travelled alone (YES alone) despite everyone's reservations that a lone female should be very careful in travelling around one of the biggest cities in Europe. Instead of experiencing fear and trepidation, all
I experienced was one of my best vacations to date and a whole lot of mind-blowing neat things. Like seeing the only Gothic cathedral of it's type in Europe; Saint Chapelle with it's floor-to-ceiling stained glass windows and of course, the infamous Notre Dame Cathedral. I sauntered down the Champs de Elysses and admired the beautiful shops, had lunch in a quaint cafe, took pictures of artists along the Seine painting the beautiful city of Paris and had the time of my life.
I saw everything you possibly need to see in Paris; the Arc de Triomphe, climbing alllll the way up the Eiffel Tower (yah I took the stairs, shame on you people taking the lift!), the Concorde Square, the Madeleine, the Pantheon, Musee d'Orsay, Place des Invalides and the awesomely cool area I stayed in called the Latin Quarter. It is so neat and trendy, and clean I would highly recommend to everyone to stay there. I also spent half a day in the Louvre Museum (ughh I could have easily spent 2 or 3 days in there!) and had my mind absolutely blown.
I meandered through the Grande Galerie and saw the Mona Lisa, works
by Caravaggio, Da Vinci and Botticelli; got lost, saw sculptures by Michaelangelo and Bernini; got lost again and stumbled upon my FAVOURITE French artist OF ALL TIME, David and stared at his paintings for a while, then admired Ingres, Giroust, Vincent and some of my favourites from the North Europe school, like Durer. Needless to say, I gave up trying to find my way around the impressive Louvre Palace as it is incredibly massive; spanning places underground, through the palace and requires escalators to get around. I was like a kid in a candy store and was depressed that I didn't have more time. I can't wait to return to Paris and go see Napoleon's tomb, the Army Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, and the list goes on and on....it's such an amazing place!
I can't say I'd ever live there, but it certainly is a fantastic place to go visit. I left feeling inspired, amazed and absolutely confident and competent, seeing as I took trains, trams, buses and the metro and managed to find everything on time, being a "lone woman" traversing across Europe. Yah that's right, we can handle it! Oh and how could I forget
the Red Hot Chili Peppers concert?! It was by far the crowning jewel of the trip and completely defined my life. I can now die happy, knowing that I've seen the man of my dreams who has kept me sane with his music for so many years and that I've seen some of the most amazing things known to mankind. Gosh my life rocks sometimes 😊 I'm already starting to countdown the days until Christmas and it's seriously going to be rough without all my friends and family. But I love you guys all soooo much and I can't wait to be reunited in exactly 5 months (today's my 7 month anniversary with Ireland hooray)! Cheers and all my love to my friends and family xoxoxo
