This past weekend was our rotary district conference in Turku! We have 23 exchange students in our district, but Ellen was in Germany so we had 22 of us! Rick came over from Aland Friday night and stayed over with me at the Ahti's house. The next morning Lapa, our treasure, and Ossi picked us up and drove us over to the ICT building in Turku for breakfast and a meeting at 9am! All the exchange kids met there, and after eating we got a couple hours free time in the autitorium where we were supervised by two awesome swedish speaking tutors. We learned how to sing Hakuna Matata in like 10 different languages at least, then got into groups with our fellow country people. Each country put on some kind of small play, or sung a song. We went for lunch at 12 then all the exchange students went to perform for all the high head rotary people in our district! It was a lot of fun! We went bowling next in Turku, then Miniature golfing, then caught the bus to Hirvensalo island where we slept at a university! Sarah (canada) was my roomie again, like at language camp, and
we had a lot of fun swimming in the pool, climbing out of our windows, running around, speaking finnish and cursing the austrailians for making deadly strong coffee!!! It was a cool place, we couldnt get the saunas to work, but we had fun playing in the gym and just hanging out! The next morning we went back to the ICT building and met with our rotary people who took us home! Rick came with me and we hung out down by the harbor for a little while, then he caught his boat back to Aland. It was a super fun weekend!
