Hi there, Thank Allah for Turkish emigration throughout Europe! If it wasn't for turkish felafels (im brod, mit salate, knoblauchsosse und paprikasosse bitte - in bread with salad, garlic sauce and chilli sauce please :)) then I would have to relinquish my flexitarian status and become a fully fledged omnivore again!!! I've now finally come back to Sydney after having a fantastic time living in and traveling through bits of western, northern and southern europe. Oskar Luts in Tartu

Oskar Luts, the much loved and celebrated Estonian writer has been carved out of this large piece of rock (which is much larger than it looks here) just like he helped to carve the Estonian national identity through his novels, poems and short stories.

Tartu University

The main building of Tartu University. The university was established in 1632 under Swedish occupation of Estonia, and like Estonia itself has undergone many changes in culture, language of tuition and management. It is an important institution in Estonia and is one of the main reasons that Tartu is the intellectual capital of the country.

For a relatively small town there are lots of cafe's in Tartu. Coffee and university students seem to be attracted to each other no matter where you are in the world. This is in the Maailm (ie. world) Cafe

Wilde and Wilde

This sculpture is an imagined conversation between Oscar Wilde and the Estonian author Eduard Wilde (pronounced Vil-de in Estonian). The two eloquent gents are sitting outside the Wilde Cafe and Pub in Tartu and a copy of them was given to the Irish city of Galway in 2004.

Teater Vanemuine

The main theater in Tartu looking pretty in Christmas lights.

Eduard Tubin

The statue of this famous Estonia conductor leans dramatically into the Teater Vanemuine and leads an invisible orchestra in a perpetual silent symphony.

About the mushrooms
Actually the mushrooms here (Aminita Muscaria) aren't poisonous if prepared properly. I guess you're heard some stories about them since you named the pic Fairytale Mushrooms.
