This week we have finished up our classes at Anglo-American University, and we are finalizing our preparations to begin phase 3 of our summer trek...our walk on the Camino de Santiago. In addition to teaching his classes this week, on Tuesday evening Ray spoke at the inaugural event for the AAU Center for Leadership Studies which he has been tapped to direct. As an out-of-class experiential learning activity last weekend, Ray took some of the students from his AAU leadership class to a high ropes course to practice cooperative learning activities. This was the first time any of the students had participated in a high ropes course, and--by their report--was a great learning experience. Here is the link to a short video showing some of the elements Ray worked on with the students:

Our classes at AAU ended tonight (Wednesday evening) , and tomorrow morning we fly to A Coruna, Spain. From A Coruna we will train & bus back to Irun (near the French border) to begin our 6-week walk along the the Camino Norte route. We are leaving all luggage except our backpacks here in Prague and will be traveling for the next phase of our trek just with our back packs. It has been quite a challenge to pare down what we are carrying both in volume and weight...we'll see if we have selected the right things to take and have left the unnecessary things behind.

Several students were happy to have survived the high ropes course...some reported they were really afraid since this was the first time any of them had attempted these types of activities.

Trying to pare down our pack contents...hard to do knowing what we are carrying is all we will have access to for the next 6 weeks...especially when Cathie's pack weight goal is 13 - 15 lbs and Ray's pack weight goal is 18 - 20 lbs. We will see how close we have come tomorrow when we check into the airlines to fly to A Coruna.
