An impressively lit building...we were both impressed
Our trip to Austria was just a quick stop in Vienna....loved the city. We happened to be there for a 'bank holiday', so we were in luck with everything but the weather. The wind and rain didn't stop everyone from getting out into the streets and touring through the military display that was presented in the main square.

Given the world war two history of Austria, we were pretty surprised to see the military propaganda machine out in force, with no hint of shame....

We only had time to spend a little while in Vienna, as it was only a quick stop before heading to Budapest....we'll be back, especially to spend some time in the Austrian Alps!

It's the little things that are different - Austrian Harry Potter wears some very cool glasses

We happened to hit Vienna on a National holiday. These festivities were taking place right in the middle of the Hofburg (the Imperial Palace)

There was also a military exhibition going on right in the middle of all the festivities... it was really strange to see tanks in front of the most beautiful buildings in the world!

Many of Vienna's museums were free because of the holiday - we particularly enjoyed the Globe Museum
