Village pillory (market marker and punishment post). 11th© castle on the hill, where Richard the Lionheart was held ransom for 20 tonnes of silver by Leopold. The ransom made the town wealthy and they could afford fortifications and improvements to the river's trafficability.

A lively Brit (standing in the background) entertained and informed us about the local wine. Very fine Riesling and an OK red. Sandra and Ken in the foreground.
