sunset over San Juan Del Sur
night draws in over this pacific border beach village resort Decided to go and relax for a few days on the atlantic coast in Nicaragua so I am heading to the coast and to a place called San Juan Del Sur which is on the border with Costa Rica with a new found love Maria Olga lara Rojas.
Scariest moment of my trip so far when I catch the bus from Granada to Rivas and the conductor type guy charges me two fares for putting my rucksack on the top of the minivan. I found out that noone else on the bus pays for this and after challenging him as I leave the bus he reluctantly decides to give me back half my fare. However as the bus pulls away from the stop it stops abruptly and he decides to get out with a machete in one hand and shouting a few obsenities at me and the other guys who informed me that i should not be paying extra for my rucksack. Needless to say I made a sharp exit and headed for the main street to catch another small bus to the coast without any more mishaps. We had to take one bus and a taxi to this place

pictures of the beach and the rocks and cliffs which surround this nicaraguan beach resort because the one thing that the colonial city of Granada lacks is a nice beach to relax on.
We arrive here in the mid afternoon heat and find a reaonable hotel called Hotel beach Paradise about two blacks from the beach for the usual ten dollars a nite budget that I am trying to keep. This beach village is a lot cheaper than the touristy town of Granada and a litre of the local beer costs around 1 and a half US Dollars or about 60 pence. There is not too much of a gringo influence here too which is great and a lot of the business are locally owned which is good because I would rather give my money to the local people than the rich north americans. I still have not found a nice beach resort in all of the countries I have visited so far in central america on both the carribean and atlantic coasts which is a bit of a shame and I hope that as I head further south to Latin America and especially Colombia there will be less north american influence in the countries that are a bit against the USA at the

me with my soulmate maria olga laras rojas moment. The reason I dont like it is because they always try and speak english to you when I am here trying to improve and practice my spanish every day and after all I have been speaking english for all of my life in england.
Spent a considerable amount of time here in with Maria mainly speaking spanish all day , taking a little sun and eating lots of seafood. San Juan is an idyllic beach resort which is located on a stunning horse shoe shaped cove with dramatic cliffs forming the edges. This is by far a leading beach town in Nicargua which is also a getaway for government officials and wealthy company directors here in Nicaragua because many have built vacation homes here. During my time here in San Juan and afterwards in Jinotepe & Managua which is the capital city here generally take time to get to know my close friend. I have not been speaking english now for about two weeks which is great for the old learning and also because maria does not have a perfect grasp of the english language at this present moment in time.
