A small puebla in the region of Masaya called San Juan de la Concepcion hosts the La Mariposa Escuela de Espanol. This poor dog will likely be next week's meal for the pack who stalked him. Most of the time the dogs are starving and with skin infections, he was especially weak from repeated attacks when one of us would offer him a bite from our plate. Breaks my heart.

This is where I showered with the bugs. We needed to use organic based soap products because the water that went down the drain was collected and used to water the gardens.

The latrine was full of giant cockroaches and palm sized insects. It caused some discomfort, as you can imagine.

This area was used as a hiding spot during the revolution.

From anywhere in this area, you can spot the active Volcun Masaya steaming and filling the landscape with the threat of eruption.

Our guide stopped to introduce us to his wife, child and pig which they keep as a pet and is named, "Baby." omg!

We took a night ride up to the top of Masaya Volcano, aka "Garganta del Infierno." Throat of the hell. The lava sloshing around was only 100 meters away and it moved like the ocean, violently.
