dancing on the bar
good bye reilly´s and antigua so we have made the move...lindsie and i are on the road yet again...albeit one motorcycle less and not nearly as financially secure as hoped...but at least moving. our last month or so in antigua was hectic but fun...we worked as much as we could, and spent lot´s time figuring out how to downsize all of the crap we had accumulated (other than the motorcycle we were able to fenangle two beers for some crappy purple snorkel gear...all else was sacrifised to the reilly´s staff). speaking of the motorcycle...with much sadness, lindsie´s bike was sold to a guatemalan guy named marcelo...let me tell you how much of a nightmare it is to import/sell u.s. bikes in guatemala...no i won´t tell you, it was just scary...we had to bring our hitman/translator/drinking partner to the border with us in order to not get totally ripped off in terms of import taxes...then after much lawyery stuff, we decided to just take money from the guy and flee the country. enough said.
on other notes, our final time in antigua was just spiffy...we met another motorcycle tourer, luke, and some other awesome travelers (andy and emme)...had a fantastic dinner and going away party and
lindsie and marcelo...
the new owner of her bike...so sad then hung out up at frank´s property for a final, relaxed evening. after much realization at how much crap we had accumulated, saturday morning arrived and we were on the road yet again.
for the quick rundown since then....we arrived in chiquimula, guatemala...only to find that i had missed seeing my good buddy tyson by mere hours (i was more than a little upset that we have not seen eachother in over a year, have been traveling various countries for months, and we miss eachother by just hours...grrrrr...).
the following day we crossed the honduran border (very expensive) and went to the tiny lencan town of gracias. we spent a couple of days wandering, soaking in not-so hot springs, eating street food and getting stared at by hondurans. lindsie´s undying need for the beach then drove us to the little carribean town of tela....only to meet a tropical depression head on and see much more liquid sunshine than we would have preferred. so we left. and went to the only microbrewery our central american travels have found (thus far). robert dale (of rogue brewery infamy) has set up a little place in lago de yajoa, honduras. it was
good to taste real beer again. lots of real beer. and rain, did i mention the tropical depression thingy...it found us at the brewery as well...and left our tent in a small yet deep lake. that was nice. while there we were graced with a bird walk by one of the bigger bird nerds that either lindsie or i had ever met. malcolm was perhaps more entertaining to chat with and observe than the various birds that he pointed out to us (which were many and beautiful). at the d and d brewery we met up with luke (a fellow biker) and his friend cindy. we rode with them for the next couple of days until we parted ways near the nicaraguan border....but i´ll continue that story in another post....nate
Well I don´t want to bore you all with more words...all I have to say is that now I´m finally riding bitch on the back of Nathan´s bike. It was a sad day...but we all knew it would happen sooner or later 😊 It´s really not that bad, I just sit back and listen to the i-pod and give Nathan a scream and squeeze everytime I think he´s going
too fast around a corner (he loves it when I do that). It was sad to see my bike go, I guess I have offically become a biker chick, and hope to get another motorcycle one day. It has been really nice to finally be out of Antigua and back on the road meeting new people and seeing new sites. The tropical depression was a bit of a bummer, but I was able to splurge on the credit card at the brewery and get a room with a jacuzzi tub for one night..... it was my own little paradise as I proceeded to enjoy 4 different baths in a 12 hour period...yes!!!!! Well I would like to tell more travelling adventures but we must be off to the pacific now to meet up with our buddy Luke. We will post a bit about Nicaragua very soon (hopefully). Hope all is well with everyone...see you in about a month!!!!! Love, Lindsie
