Weed!
Jonas with the bush. IT just grew right in our yard in utila! No one smoked it though. Well, it's pretty wild to start a new year. It's funny to think that it's 2007, sometimes we wonder where all the time went. I had a great new year, but here I am still on utila. I haven't moved in 2 and a half weeks. As you can imagine, it can get a little boring after a while, being in one place that long. You start eating at the same place and doing the same thing over and over, and all that. No, just kidding. It's been great!
I was thinking back to last new years, and how I went to Maine with my family. We went to bed at about ten oclock, cause we were tired. We didn't even make it to midnight! But this new years was different...I definately saw the new years. I was at my favorite bar. It was packed, and at new years, we saw fireworks go off over the trees. Then I went around spreading new year cheer to everyone. My new years have never been too interesting. I often didn't get to party on them, yet this time was different. My brother would always sing his song--"what you gunna do, you can't
Looking for crabs with Silvia
Um, is this really a good idea? It was lots of fun though, but I´m not sure we want the crabs. Silvia was real cool, she was from france and had been travelling 12 years. She is a gypsy. get kissed on new years eve, what you gunna do, when you show up it's time to leave." But this time wasn't like that.
After some people cleared out of the tree house bar, there were some fifteen people left. I was going to play, as I did the last two sundays, but it was so packed no way I could have been heard. Plus I was in a quiet mood, so I didn't. But after twelve I played everyone a few songs. It was nice. They were some nice people, and this nice guy bought us all shots, George, a good fella who teaches salsa lessons on the island. He said, I am going to buy you all your first shot of the year! Then we went down to coco locos, the bar where everyone always goes, or next door, to this one called tranquilla. We danced the night away. Finally I went home, exhausted, at about 430 in the morning, but it was a real good time.
What I was really surprised about was someone told me a lot of our friends here did some drugs, namely coke...this place should've been called coca loca. But never
The Jade Seahorse
At first it was my favorite spot on the island. By the end, it was my 3rd favorite...it´s still awesome tho. This is where I gave a few concerts. having been into that scene, I am fully oblivious to it, and rarely see any of it, fortunately. I'm really quite ignorant, and it truly is bliss. See, everytime you learn something, you gain something, namely knowledge. But you lose something else, that being ignorance, and bliss. That's why Lau Tzu said, "Give up learning, and put an end to all your troubles." Knowledge is power, but I'm not so sure it brings happiness...when I think of all the things I don't know, I'm really grateful that I'm so ignorant. ha ha ha.
Which brings me to the deep thoughts. I printed a bunch of them out from the internet, and we've just been having lots of fun reading them and cracking up. A bunch of my friends here appreciated them too. I love this one--
I don't think I'll ever forget her. And maybe I don't want to. She was wild, like a wild monkey. Her beauty was like a beautiful horse being ridden by a wild monkey. I forget her other qualities.
Anyway, I am leaving the island today! At least that is the plan. The ferry should be going. I'm going down to Tegucigalpa,
to meet some friends. It will be nice to be travelling again.
What else has happened in the last few days, I'm not sure what is noteworthy. I did four dives for fun. They were pretty good. But yesterday, I did a few, and the first was crazy. First, I felt like a divemaster, because this kid was swimming around grabbing the coral. I told him underwater, don't touch it. He was pretty much an idiot. He also wasn't sticking with his buddy at all, Rachel, and she ran out of air. The divemaster, Oliver, sent me up with Rachel. Rachel and I are friends, so I went up with her to the surface. She was really freaked out. We couldn't see the boat at first and there were really big waves. She said, "I don't feel well, I can't breathe out of my left lung." She was a little scared, so I tried to calm her. Then we saw the boat, way far away, and started going for it. Finally we got there, but the current was too strong, and we swept past it. After a few minutes, we just swam really hard and got to it, and
Rachel was a bit freaked out, but she ended up ok. So that felt like I was doing the rescue course, though I decided to not do it.
Oh yeah, I lost the chess championship to the swedish master. He beat me twice. I think I could've had him, but I was used to playing really aggressive, and recklessly, because I would beat my other friends fast that way. But this guys game was solid.
Anyway, I am soon to put up some pics. From the capital I think I'm heading right down to nicaragua, because soon I want to get to South America.
Those who can understand me, shall forgive me. The others just need to have more understanding in their hearts.
now that's a deep thought! But I feel much better having written that...anyway, it is a new year, and the past is behind me, and I am moving on to new adventures. 2007 is going to be a good one, I can feel it.
Happy new year to all! I am continuing my quest to spread peace, love, and music.
