We have been spending the last week and a half in the Bay Isalnds in Honduras. It is absolutely beautiful here and some refer to it as the Garden of Eden and the Carribbean's best kept secret. I think that's a tad of an exaggeration but yes it is very nice. It's claim to fame is that Temptaton Island was filmed here and that it has the best and the cheapest diving in the world.
We booked ourselves into this lovely room with a balcony and hammock and our own private dock. We jst spend our days sunbathing, relaxing and lazing about the dock and when we get too hot, we just jump off the edge of the dock and into the sea. It's great! We also get free kayaks so if we get fed up sunbathing, we grab a couple of kayaks and go investigating around the dock. The banter's good!
David decided to do his open water Padi diving course which lasted for four days and he had to do four ocean dives and two shallow dives in which he learned all of his skills etc for use in the water. I did a refresher course as
I was bricking it diving as I could hardly remember anything frm my open water in Thailand. It was fine though, an instructor spent the whole day with me going through my skills and the rules of diving and the equipment and then I did two fun dives which were just amazing. The coral and fish were absolutely fantastic as the sea is so clear and the visability is great. We both decided to do our advanced courses together which lasted for two days in which we had to choose five types of dives to specialise in. We chose a deep dive, a shipwreck dive, a naturalistic dive, a night dive and a navigational dive. The shipwreck dive was fantastic. You just descend for ages in the water and it gets quite dark as you are so deep about 140 feet and all of a sudden, out of nowhere appears this massive shipwreck. We could see the huge mast and the bow and then we were able to swim along the passages and corridors and through doors and into the rooms. It was so class but we could not stay down that long. The night dive was by far the

Scuba with Ruben? best and my favourite. In fact, I have decided that I far prefer to dive by night than during the day. We headed out jst as the sun was setting and put our equipment together and dived in just as it was starting to get dark. As soon as we were under the water, the sun had completely set and all of these amazing creatures that we never saw on dives during the day started to appear. There were millions of these tiny blood fish that were surrounding us as they were attracted to our lights. You could hold your hand out and there would be hundreds of them landing on your hand. We also saw a baby octupus, and gigantic crabs and turtles that were feeding. There were also loads of lobsters and we could spot them by their eyes which glowed in the dark and boy can they move fast. There were also loads of fish that glowed in the dark and it was so refreshing seeing all of these things for the first time and in such a completely different environment. We then ascended to the surface only to float in the sea for a bit under the stars. So cool...
We are staying a couple of more days and then we are starting our next move to Costa Rica which we are really excited about as there is loads to do there. Quite a trek tho, through parts of Honduras, Nicaragua and then into Costa Rica.
That's all for now, hope that everyone is well and please keep in touch
