Took a weekend trip to the Mayan ruins at YaxHa located on a beautiful lake. We camped overnight in our hammocks. The ruins are quite good and the jungle has been cleared enough in the city that we were able to get a sense of the place as it might have once been.
Also took an evening boat trip on the lake to see some other nearby ruins, cook supper and look for alligators.
I recommend this site which is unjustly overshadowed by Tikal.

The sunrise was spectacular for the six of us. Howler monkeys and Toucans serenaded us as the sun came up over the jungle.
