We finally scaped Grenada, sort off. We are in Carriacou, which is a dependency of Grenada. Very laid back attitude, typical of some islands. Unfortunately, it is a rocky anchorage, every night around midnight the rocking starts. Last about 3 hours, then stops. What a mystery.
We have been all over Tyrell Bay by both dinghy and foot. We met Elusive from WI, met them in Luperon, they are haul out here. Also 2nd Millennium, this couple has been in the Caribbean for the past 11 years, John has not set a foot in the USA. Jeris keep saying we are climbing the mountains. Feels like it at times. Straight up, back of legs hurting, out of breath...We are all so out of shape...
We found the areas we walked very clean. Dogs are friendly, although mostly showing their bones.
There is internet on the island, but password protected, so we have no internet.
There is a terrific hurricane hole here. We dinghy around to find a huge area, full of mangroves, and deep enough for a 5 foot draft boat to make it in at high tide. John told us this is their hole. In 2004, Ivan the terrible, that did so much damage to Grenada and the Grenadines,2nd Millennium spent it in this hole. They report the wind was horrific, but no damage to their boat, and they spent the whole time on it. NOT ME!!!! I would not sit in a boat during a hurricane and that's the end of this subject, NO!
This island has a small beach with actual sand, not rocky. We saw many sea urchins, the white ones, with their nasty little spines. We went swimming for about an hour, took our soap, washed. Came back to boat, Pete check the prop for barnacles, had a few. Only 3 weeks since we launched, no time at all these creatures come up. Best to stay on top of it.
We are headed towards town this morning to do customs, we heard that Thursday is boxing day, and a holiday. So we need to check out today in order not to be charged another fee and new cruising permit. Paper Moon hasn't been in these waters since July 3rd.
Last night I tried a new things for dinner, made meatless, lasagna on top of the stove, with eggplants.
