Boring Mall 1
How sterile is this? Pretty water fountain, and about 6 people walking around. I'll bet there was a drum total of 20 people in the mall that day (not counting workers). Metro Centro had, what, hallways PACKED with people? Yeah, MC rocks. Day Three - Thursday September 21st
The day we decided to go to see the other malls. There was Metro Centro, but M's cousins told us that MC is "ghetto" and that there are "classier" malls to go to. We called a cab that was blessedly free of seat belts and we were taken to the expensive, cold, emotionless malls that you can find in the super upscale districts in Toronto or any other city in the world. I don't have much to say about them at all. I can't even remember their names! I'd call them Boring Mall 1 and Boring Mall 2. Boring Mall 2 was complicated and we kept getting lost (and ending up in the underground parking lot).
I was sitting on this bench when suddenly Colonel Sanders sat down next to me. He was peculiarly cheery and it was kinda creepy. He just spread out on the bench, threw his arm over the back and was grinning like a madman (well, he *is* the sole possessor of his secret recipe of herbs and spices! The knowledge drove him mad!) Yeah, I was looking at him funnily and then I had to get out

Marta and me at the Boring Mall 1. Hmm, Marta and Caroline = MC = Metro Centro. Lol, our initials make for a kickass mall. Geeky? Yesh I am! :P of dodge. It was strange, wherever we went, if there was a KFC then there would be a bench with his holy Colonelness sitting out front in all his fiberglass glory. It was sick!
After this we decided to take a cab to visit this office in the down town core that M's family owns. Her grandfather owned this office and business and now her uncle runs it. There is a woman who has been working for M's family for over 30 years and we had to visit her for something. Either way, the cabby was really nice and he was worried about driving us to such a "rough" neighbourhood. We had our doors locked while we were riding, and when we got to the building, we went directly from the cab into the building. The nighbourhood looked like any other downtown location; dirty with many people walking around, but nothing like gang warfare going on! Anyways, we met the woman (very nice!) and chatted with her for a bit. Or rather, M chatted with her, and I just listened. Then Marta remembered there were some DVDs that her dad had asked for, and one of the girls who
Wicked View
There was a gorgeous view of the forest from the top level of boring mall 1. works there said she could guide us through the streets to some of the street vendors that she knew. So we dropped off all our valuables and went out into the "dangerous" down town core. It was polluted and dirty, but nothing much seemed dangerous. We bought our dvds, and then she took us shopping to some stores. The MOST offensive stuff we encountered were guys yelling at us to come buy stuff from them, and while we were crossing the street, there was a guy zooming by on a bike and he tried to grab my ass. I say *tried* because he managed to touch my back, but missed my bum completely! Lol, what a loser. I say again that everything was SO CHEAP down there! M bought a hankerchief to wipe away our sweat (b/c I don't know if I'd mentioned before how HOT El Sal was) and it only cost us $0.35!!
The stores that we went into all had little drop-off posts where you had to leave your bags (not purse, but shopping bags) and they'd be put into little cubbies. EVERY store there had this, even the grocery stores!
We didn't find much else
Shiny Floor is Shiny
So classy and shiny. I felt out-classed being there. while shopping, except that I bought Mike some cigarettes. I spent $1.75 for TWO packs of smokes! I was blown away! We returned to the building, and then we called the cab to take us back home. While waiting for the cab, EVERYONE that passed us didn't hide the fact they were staring at us. It was strange. I had my Toronto-stare set on my face, and a general look of apathy just to not appear scared or anything. I wasn't scared, but the last thing I wanted someone to think is that I *WAS* scared. There was a security guard in the lobby where we were waiting, so it wasn't that bad. Then the cab came, we jumped in and jetted off to our neck of the woods.
We went back to Metro Centro and arranged to meet up with M's cousin Gaby. While we waited we were tired and tried sitting on one of the Colonel's benches at the same time. I ended up leaning against him and sitting *quite* unladylike while we waited. Ugh! ...
LUCKILY I don't care what people think of me, so I didn't mind! Lolerskates!
Gaby arrived with her friend Minerva and
Red Passage is Red
Even the stairs out of there were classy. It was a trippy hallway. I instantly noticed how pretty they are. The girls in El Sal are so figureful and gorgeous! I felt like a stark, pasty dork beside them. (My white shirt didn't help with the fact that I'm super pale.) We went shopping for a bit, said our goodbyes and then went back to our room to sleep in our granny gowns.
I think it was that night that I had a very memorable dream. Something about lady bugs. I remember the details, although I won't get into them here. The reason I mention this is because back home (in Canada) I sleep like the dead. I barely move and I have a bitch of a time trying to talk in my sleep (I think I sleep so deeply that if I try to say something, the effort alone wakes me up). In this dream I had to stop Barney the purple dinosaur from squashing a lady bug that I'd taken it upon myself to defend. I swung out with a roundhouse kick in my dream, and in reality I'd kicked out with my leg and really driven my foot into the closet door. The bang woke me up. I was
The Colonel
In all his creepy fiberglass glory is hitting on me! mildly annoyed that I'd done it, and amused that I'd actually moved in my sleep. I quickly rolled over on the hard mattress and successfully tried to get back to sleep.
