Puerto Caldera, Costa Rica

April 21st, 2013

We arrived at 7 this morning and we are leaving at 4:30, in ½ an hour.

When we leave on tours early in the morning we pre-order breakfast, it was delivered at 6; because we gained an hour last night and we went to bed early, Terry had already brought down coffee from the Lido restaurant to our room.

We boarded our bus at 7:20 for a 40 minutes drive to the Tarcoles River where we saw many birds (including Macaw), many crocodiles and lovely sunshine.

From this 1hour boat trip, we traveled on the bus for ½ an hour to the Carara Reserve National Park where we embarked on an aerial tramway and climbed over 1000 meters through rain and shine in a tropical forest, we saw monkeys, a yellow Toucan and many other birds.

After this ride, we walked around a small botanical garden, saw a cinnamon tree, a vanilla tree and a chocolate tree, also many others.

The tour included a nice luncheon- beans, rice, chicken and many fruit and vegetable, fruit juices, I had soutsot- white and tasteless.

The rainy season is just starting and we arrived back at the ship at 3 in torrential rain; we shopped a the little at an interesting market set up in a hangar just opposite the ship on the dock.

A lovely day with many pictures, tomorrow, Nicaragua.
