Living in Playa Samara
We have iguana’s living on our roof, between our wooden ceiling and the tin roof. One morning we both thought that the other farted….but….it was something else (of course). It was the sound of liquid dripping down from the ceiling on the floor next to our bed….we thought it was iguana pee because we heard one crawling over the ceiling…..it turned out to be water, fortunately !
Also monkeys come and go, we watch squirrels jumping from tree to tree. In the morning, even before sunrise we hear: monkeys howling, birds singing, goose squeeking, dogs barking and at last the rooster is awake too and starts his cock-a-doodle-doo. One of the geese fell in love with Hubert and comes walking up our stairs, believe it or not. She wants him to pick her up and then she is quiet, at last ! So Hubert brings her back to her friends until she comes running back.
Riding our bikes in Samara is great fun, on the beach or on the street. One day Willeke went into town alone. Shasta broke out of the house after a while and tried to follow her. When Willeke went back
home passing the Banco Nacional ATM, she saw a big white shape from the corner of her eye. There was Shasta waiting outside the ATM machine. He doesn’t have a credit card so no way he was gonna get any money out of there…..She called him and he run towards her, very happy to see her ! He found her at last.
In the afternoon we play lots of board games like scrabble in Spanish, dominos or Rummi. Hubert didn’t know the game Rummi but after a short time he got really hooked on it. First thing this morning he said : Do you want to play Rummi ? good morning to you honey haha…
Every first week of the month we try to go to our favorite restaurant called LaGarto. It’s right on the beach, with big wooden furniture and romantic lighting. The food is the best ! Everything is from the grill, fish, meat and veggies. Whoever comes to visit us, be prepared to go there…it’s really good.
The pictures show our regular walk on the beach to town, so now hopefully everybody understands why we enjoy living here so much.
Have fun, take care and enjoy life
!

Wonen in Playa Samara
