Wednesday, July 5th the Eury's made it up to San Ramon for a visit. With their time in Costa Rica nearing an end we feared they wouldn't be able to come up and see what our life is like here. We were thrilled that they were able to make time to visit "our world".
They arrived just around mid-day and after unpacking and settling in we decided to go to lunch at one of our favorite restaurants, La Isla Del Sabor. Everyone seemed to enjoy the food, we always enjoy ours there. After lunch, the men took all the kids back to the house while Cristina and I went shopping in the central mercado. Wayne is an awesome cook so I asked him if he'd cook for us. He agreed and gave Cristina and I a list of what he needed from the store, capers are not something usually found around my house.
As is the way in Costa Rica things don't usually go as planned. As we'd eaten a big lunch we decided to go light on dinner and thus pushed Wayne's dinner to the next night. I feared we weren't going to experience Waynes expertise this trip
as the plan was to head to the beach early Thursday morning. I know how beach days go... no one feels like cooking after.
Cristina was anxious to have a massage by my friend Edgar. We called him at lunch and made arrangements for an evening massage at the house. The kids were all settled in bed and we set up the living room with the best atmosphere we could so Cristina could have a relaxing experience. The rest of us adults waiting on the back porch thru the massage to give her privacy. It was a cool night here, very different than our time together in Puerto Viejo. We had to sneak back into the house for jackets! Cristina seemed to enjoy the 2 hour massage.
As planned we got up early and prepped for our trip to Playa Dona Ana. Once on the autopista we hit a traffic jam. After waiting in a non moving line of cars for about 30 minutes we ditched the beach idea after convincing the children that we may spend the entire day on the autopista and never make it to the beach.
We had wanted them to see the
property so with the beach idea scratched we headed up to Berlin. Unfortunately, my camera decided to do weird things so the pics of the Eury's on the property are rather pink. We're always curious as to what people will think of our property. I've posted hundreds of pictures on webshots but they really don't do the property justice. Wayne and Cristina confirmed this. Pictures do not give you the full experience.
With the showing of the property done and visiting 'our town' the only thing left was to show them the waterfall and waterpark 4 km from the house, Las Musas. We'd visited Las Musas several times but had never seen people there nor had we utilized the pools. On previous visits we'd only viewed the waterfall. The kids were thrilled when they saw the waterslide. The adults agreed it was better than going to the beach with time limited. We had a great time with everyone (except me) playing on the waterslide. Bella even took a couple of turns with both Wayne and Cristina. http://www.ecomusas.com/
We returned to the house mid-afternoon and to my delight after cleaning up the kids we got to experience Wayne's cooking.
Showing the property
Don't know what's up with the pink hue? Thanks Wayne... dinner was delicious. Wayne came to Costa Rica with his Rachel Ray cookbook. We're glad he brought it to our house! We had marinated chicken and a salad with dijon caper dressing. I know that's not the official name but I'm trying to get this posted as quickly as possible. No time to check facts. The main thing is we had a delicious dinner that everyone enjoyed!
After dinner the Eury's packed up and headed back to Pavas. We were sad they had to leave so quickly but are glad to have had the chance to show them our lives. They even got to experience the occasional unexpected power outage as they were stepping into the shower. Luckily it wasn't too long and they were able shower with warm water.
We're happy to have had our first visitors stay with us. I hope they found our home comfortable and welcoming. The plan is to see them again in Pavas on Sunday before they head back to Arizona early Tuesday morning. We know how plans go in Costa Rica so ....

Hi!
Calista looks so beautiful! We love seeing the pictures! My, you take alot of wonderful trips. I hope all is well with you. I'm sure spending time with your friends from AZ was good for you. Our summer is going great. Working my two jobs, but finally using some State vacation time. Golfing, taking mortocycle trips to Tahoe, and spending time on the beach at Rogers place in Lawsons Landing (Dillons Beach). I'm hooked on the ocean. I'm sure you are too! Your pictures are awesome. My business trip to San Francisco was especially nice when it turned into too much fun with Aunt Lisa. Roger and I are taking a 4 day golf trip to Carson City, Nevada in a few weeks. We golf with 7 other couples from surrounding Country Clubs. Their so nice a little crazy! Marcus is still taking test for the CA Corrections Officer position and Frances is a "Princess." She's going back to school in a couple weeks. Mark finally signed over the house to me w/retirement monies. Were working it out and he's being nice. I feel like celebrating this weekend except Roger is on a 9 day motorcycle trip to Mount Rushmore. He has a Yamaha FJR. It's fast, I like fast! Last month he flew to Alaska and took a week long dirt bike trip. Yea, he's one of those lucky retired folks! I only like the one or two day trips - my butt gets tired and I want to stop and see everything. Lacy, our 16 yr old cat died. We miss her. So, Francie has a new too cute puppy. She's a cute litle Yourkie mix named "La La"I clean up the poop because sometimes Francie just doesn't see it! Imagine that! . Calling "La La" throughout Home Depot when she jumps out of her puppy purse is goofy experience! Well, this is just a little bit about what's happening with the Burnett's, and I better get back to work! My new boss is back, he's a ittle more strict but alot more handsome! He reminds me of my brother! Watch out for those snakes! Love ya Cathryn
