Eury's arrive in Costa Rica
Our Friends Cristina and Wayne arriving from AZ with their children for a six week stay. The Eury’s visit began on May 31st and will last for six weeks. They, Wayne, Cristina, Sofia, Alex and Isabella are friends of ours from Arizona who are staying with Cristina’s father while in Costa Rica. Callista and Sofia were classmates at Desert Marigold, a Waldorf methods school in third grade. It was in conversations with friends at the school that the seed was planted for moving to Costa Rica. As news spread that we were headed to Costa Rica last July, Cristina asked if we’d deliver items to her father who lived here. We now fully understand the custom of sending things with other people as it is expensive to ship things to Costa Rica. (Cristina brought many goodies from my mom on this trip, a whole suitcase full. Thanks again Cristina and Wayne! ) She had no idea at the time the friendship that would blossom from our initial meeting with her father. Ramon and his wife Maritza have become dear friends of ours.
We met them at the airport to help transport the family and luggage The plane arrived and they made it outside to us after 10:30 pm. As quickly as possible, we loaded up the
Friends reunited
Callista, Sofia and little Isabella cars and headed to Pavas as everyone had had a long day. We were all tired!
Callista and I had dental appointments the following Tuesday in Pavas so we agreed to see them all again then, after they’d rested and settled in. It's nice knowing they’re here for several weeks. Beween our dental appointments on Tuesday we got to spend some time visiting. My appointment was a long one so Bill ran errands with them and stopped at the park to play in the rain. We invited Sofia to come back to our house in San Ramon for a couple of days as we had planned to return to Pavas on Thursday.
As often happens in Costa Rica plans changed and we were unable to return on Thursday. I had caught an awful cold (gripe~ pronounced greepay) and decided since we planned to head back towards San Jose on Friday anyway for Isabella’s birthday it would be better to have Sofia spend another night with us. Driving and hour each way three times in a week is a little much for us. Not wanting to keep the girls penned in the house again all day we escaped to

Late night for everyone! the beach and salt water therapy for my cold. (See previous blog Escape to the Beach). It was a well needed respite for all of us!
Friday came and we returned Sofia to her parents at the house of family members Ricardo and Carolina in Heredia. Unfortunately, Ricardo had to work but it was a pleasure to meet his wife and three children. I felt awful about going to someone’s house with a full blown cold and running a fever. I almost sent Bill alone but didn’t want to be rude and really wanted to meet Ricardo’s family. It was a relief to meet Carolina and find she was sick as well. WHEW! I didn’t bring anything into their house that wasn’t already there. I don’t like it when people visit me when they’re sick. I hate taking my sickness to other people.
We had a nice visit, enjoyed lunch and a delicious cake. Everyone had taken a cab to Ricardo and Carolina’s house where we met them. When it was time to leave we loaded up the car and gave them a ride back to Pavas. We visited in Pavas but with me not feeling well I
Is this the last of it?
Bill and Ricardo loading the cars. Yes, Bills face is that red!! We had a very long day working on the property. He has a new respect for hats and sunscreen now. still didn’t get in a good visit with Cristina and Wayne. Thanks for the decongestant Wayne!
We’re not sure when we’ll see the Eury’s again. They have places to go and family to visit. We’ve invited them to spend some time with us in San Ramon but need to wait for a new bed we ordered to be completed before we commit to dates. Such is life in Costa Rica. There may be some trips together over the next few weeks but we’ve learned to not plan things. Everything happens in its own time and we’re just fine with that. When the time is right everything falls into place.
Today will be a day of rest for me; I plan to read a trashy novel my mom sent with Cristina. Tomorrow we’re expected at our friends house in Naranjo for a lesson on cooking choyote and I DO NOT want to take my sickness with me. ***(It's Sunday when I'm finally getting this posted and we didn't make it to Naranjo, still sick! I did finish the trashy novel though, thanks Mom!)
For my Dad…yep, still like a politician, even when sick and feeling like do-do I
First Sleepover
Sofia came to spend a couple of days with Callista without the siblings. don’t have anything negative to say about Costa Rica. Love you, Daddy!
Even with gripe, life in Costa Rica is PURA VIDA!

Lovin' all the news & photos
Hi Sheridans -- Seems to me you do a lot of birthday cake eating !! Do people in Costa Rica get more than one birthday a year? It all sounds idyllic and I think how Daisy would have loved Bear's life so much more than the one she got -- stuck in a townhouse. Think I need to start saving my money for a visit -- you save for a bed to go in the guestroom. Yes, I promise to bring American goodies and trashy novels. Hugs to all -- Aunt C.
