We left the Emerald Rock mooring field at the Exuma Land & Sea Park on March 5th in some strong winds. Winds were 18-22 knots with gust up to 27 knots. We got up to a hull speed of 7.2 knots a few times but averaged 5-6 knots. We made a quick stop at Sampson Cay to pick up diesel as we had heard it was a marina with easy access. It worked out well and we were even able to find some carrots and... Read Full Entry

This is one of the numerous Bahamian sloops built on the island. They are particularly proud of the fact that they have produced some champion boats and teams. We are sorry we will miss the regatta later in April.

Here is a view of a “cut” which allows a boat to travel between the Banks and the Sound. Not sure if you can tell but hopefully you can see the variety of colors of blue water in this photo.

We have been surprised to see so many large power boats anchored out. When this one left it was towing 2 boats – a fishing boat and a dinghy.

The fundraiser lunch at Black Point was served here. We met up with a couple we hadn’t seen since December that sailed across from the US in a 27 foot O’Day sailboat.

The laundry mat is very well kept and even has a great view out the windows looking over the harbor. Can’t ask for much more than that.

This is the internet café run by Lorraine at Black Point. She told me that she set it up to make everyone feel welcome as she enjoys meeting the various people that travel through this area.

One girl we met (Paige) at the laundry mat was a real hit – she wasn’t afraid to talk to us and we found out from her Mom that she was going to represent Black Point at the national spelling bee competition later this month. We are sure she will go far!

Reads like you're having a great time. Sorry to hear about the refrigerator part, but you're on your way again. Nice pics too. Jim is up in VA working on Heather. Going to put the centerboard back in on TH, cutless bearing, shaft and stuffing box on the agenda too. Working out the final plan for solar above the bimini...yeah more time at anchor. He spent a week at our rental in Swansboro. Tenant leaving end of month so putting it on the market. Plenty to do to get it ready to present to buyers and will stop on his way home for round 2. I'm volunteering 2 days a week doing taxes and getting the yard in shipshape for spring. Plenty to get organized for our trip back to Heather in early May. Glad to hear you are enjoying the cruising lifestyle. We are looking forward to a bit or relaxation ourselves. Cheers, joanne
