Maa'lesh sounds kind of like "Es Macht Nichts" in German. Of course my spelling is probably gefubared.
Actually, your story reminds me (vaguely, and if you squint) of an experience I had in the south of France. Alas, it was all my fault. I spent all night partying with some fellow hostelers, slept about an hour, then passed out on the train leaving Nice. I was going to Cinque Terra, where it's good to get a jump on the rooms, about a 3 hour train ride. I woke up 6 hours later, having slept off most of my two bottles of wine, back in Nice. I had been to Cinque Terra, but not in a conscious state. I slept in the train station that night... Maa'lesh.
Be well, amigo. Sounds like fun.
Junk Mail So, this "travelblog" stuff in my email in-box wasn't junk mail. It only took me until today to realize you were sending them. I'll have to go back and read the ones I unwittingly deleted.
I look forward to following your journey during my lunch hour. By the way, I had no idea you were such a poetic writer.
And for a guy who swore off caffeine years ago, that tea might keep you awake long after you return to us.
I also have to say... It's nice to read a blog that's not the typical "OMG, these bed-wins are t3h gay!!!!11111one!! LOLS." Well written, as expected, Chris.
Interesting Interesting stuff. Since you never take any pictures, it's good to hear what kind of stuff you're experiencing.
I always knew you were an agent of some kind, but I guess I didn't peg you for Mossad.
lol Sure enough, it was a real "Bedouin camp", complete with a flashing sign above that said "Bedouin camp".
Dude - I couldn't stop laughing. This seems to define the word "culture" quite nicely.
flashing sign *Sure enough, it was a real "Bedouin camp", complete with a flashing sign above that said "Bedouin camp".*
Dude, I couldn't stop laughing when I read this. That seems to summarize nicely the state of "culture" in this century.
Chris, this is tremendous. I hadn't guessed you'd be writing a blog. I'm looking forward to future entries. By the way, if you do want to buy some papyrus, please see me upon your return, or visit icantbelieveitsnotvellum.com.
Stay safe Have a great time. It's too bad this site doesn't generate Atom/RSS/whatever feed, because that would be an even easier way to follow your travels.

Maybe this is obvious, but what about ear plugs?
