We woke, still tired, to glorious weather for our first full day in New York. We stopped off at Murray's Bagels for breakfast, both of us opting for scrambled eggs on a bagel. Not exactly cheap and not exactly healthy, but we had to try it. Another tick off the to-do list. I opted for the Salt bagel, which I assumed was a bagel sprinkled with salt. What it turned out to be was, in fact, salt with some bagel inside. After our 1st subway ride (tick) we arrived early for the TV & Movie location tour, so we went for a walk along Broadway as far as Times Square, stopping in at the souvenir shops just to check what was available and at what cost. After a horror 13hr flight to LAX from Sydney, Australia (where the in-flight entertainment was down for a couple of hours at one stage) we were relieved to find the 4 hr New York flight was less than 10% full. A 30 min taxi ride from JFK to our apartment on West 19th St (between 8th & 9th Aves) in Chelsea and we were greeted by the owner - Patricia - who was lovely but talked our ears off for what I'd guess was 45 mins. It was around 8pm when we could finally relax and, having settled on Thai from "Spice" around the corner on Patricia's recommendation we set out for a short walk down 8th Ave. It was soon apparent that we were in a rather gay area of NY.
