We spend the day exploring the small town (a third world version of Avalon) and learning where things can be purchased. There is a great little beach half a mile or so from the main waterfront. It’s a nice spot and there are street food vendors selling delicious empanadas, fruit, skewers, ice cream and ice cold beer all at very reasonable prices. As we were checking in yesterday, Friday, our agent told us it would not be possible to organize things like fuel and water until next Wednesday because it is Carnival. Carnival is apparently the celebration of the inclusion of the Galapagos into Ecuador. The locals are all very friendly and the town seems incredibly safe any time of the day or night.
