Thursday Rose at 4 am and showered. I remembered previous showers at the start of trips, particularly at the Globe Wall in Cape Town. A shower, with the luxury of limitless hot water, represents urban civilization juxtaposed with thought of when will I see this again. Dawn was breaking across Sussex and the roofs of my beloved Ditchling picked up colour from the rays of the sun. Having dressed I went downstairs, had a light breakfast and loaded the panniers on the bike.
