wow Hi Darc and Jess - i never read a blog before - arent you clever!!
it is amazing to see you in cambodia - i know it mainly through kids i have taught who escaped from the killing fields (but not with their parents) so it is haunting to see you walking around freely in those places. its a big comment about human nature isnt it. you are obviously competent travellers already, and i feel that these days i would be daunted by all the little daily challenges you have to face. but do give yourselves a chance to have a rest and withdraw into a book sometime if it gets a bit much. its pretty hard to keep up that level of excitement and energy - but then you are young....!!
i saw your parents last night darc - they were in fine culinary and musical form - me and terry creamed david and your mum at canasta - and they say its a game of luck!!!
anyhow take care of yourselves and enjoy your riches! i look forward to the next episode!
love

New Horizons Angkor Wat and surrounds looks wonderful. Not sure whether either of you have the lips to do real Angelina impersinations. As for excessive drinking with Irishmen the night before early morning long distance travels.....well....just imagine my expression, now stay with that....I'll let you both add your own captions to that image! I am looking forward to hearing and seeing more of your wonderful travelblog additions. Things are fine in Brisbane although there are floods in Coober Pedy (Coobs) and Broken Hill (Brokes). Thousands of years of rain in a few seconds or something........who said there is such a thing as climate change going on? Stay healthy, happy and safe, love from Trev and Roxy, she sends a few licks to each of you. x slurp x slurp x slurp.
now i remember! couldn't place either of you, thought i'd been included on the email list by mistake, but now i remember! It's the 'mouth open' photo that did it for me, i used to teach that girl in year 12, that's exactly how she used to look by the end of a class.
am now enjoying the journal more than ever....
How buff are those monks??? So little transient housemate...got the itches yet? Sorry it has taken us so long to reply but 24 Lugg st is now completely self sufficient... if you are prepared to wash your clothes in the bath. I am addicted to myspace - I am adding EVERYONE! Miss you shitloads... and add me to your friends biatches! xoxox

HEEEEEEEEYYYYYYY Hey Girlies,
Really enjoying the photos and the stories of all the adventures that you are having! It's nice to sit down at home, in the 40 degree heat, after a depressing day at work and read about your travels! Glad to see you are killing it over there in big bad Asia! So Darce, I saw your new doona tonight when I was visiting the Pondster, and it looks nice and snuggly! I resisted the urge to have a kip, but I am VERY impressed. Hmmm. You can see I'm having the summer of my lifetime back in Melbs! Have fun gorgeous ones! xxoo
Hey from the Goldie Hey guys! :)
Looks like you're having an awesome time, it's great to have all the photos while you can be asked! Can't believe you've done so much already...will keep following the stories, keep em coming, safe and happy travels, much love! xx
Bloody boring Holy smoke. I thought that when you were opening up a blog adventure with global travels yous would be riding on the roofs of buses, ripping off hotels and doing runners, smuggling prohibited substances from country to country (even sending some home for the rellos would be considerate) and stealing from fellow tourists that thought you were doing them a favour minding their worldly posessions. Ah but no no no, instead we are reading a sweet travel story about two young georgeous girls actually doing all the right things. The RIGHT THINGS! AND to boot, even enjoying themselves in the process of experiencing Asian adventures.
I very much enjoyed the reading of the river/cooking/monks and steps installments. I was a good read and the addition of the photos was great. Perhaps ypou could start thinking about marketing a travel safe thing / book/ guide for young woment wanting to do a similar trip but are unsure where start. I am sure that you would have bought the book yourselves if it was sitting on a shelf. So........ ( just can't help it Darce) Keep up the good work and we look forward to the next chapter whenever it comes along. All is well here and the fence is finished however Ann is not happy with a section of it .MMmmmmmmmmm Lots of love, Unit number ????1 or 2??
checking in Hi Darce and Jeff (D notice how I have changed your name)
I am very pleased you are going well, enjoying the food, enaging with the locals, surviving the bus journeys, enjoying the rip offs, avoiding americans, keeping fit by walking, becoming more political, settling generally into traveller ways etc etc. You are obviously sparking lots of memories in us oldies but I am assuming Indonesia and India are familiar for you? Dont forget to find somewhere to relax as you both have big years ahead and need to have a bit of a rest - usually an oversight for budget travellers
Darce are you going to dye your hair blonde so that you are more attractive?
our stir fry creations Trev Trev,
We had a little thought about Aly having a laugh at our creations... and yes, i suppose a few vegies in a wok with tofu does seem like a simple creation - but these just werent your normal average green beans... this was morning glory, some flash basil and deep fried tofu in a kahmer style curry paste, that we grounded by hand... so there!
just thought i'd drop a line and say you 2 ARE making a few people jealous.looks and sounds great darc(and jess or sarah or marah)am looking forward to further exploits, adios
After 1 week Hi Marah and Darc
So many adventures in only 1 week. Sounds like you are quickly adapting to the need of having your scam-o-meter on all of the time. Always the secret ingredients for happy travels (as you both seem to be aware of), are smile, be respectful to people and their cultures, be very wary of business propositions, and, finish off with another smile. Aly absolutely cracked up when she saw your photos of the vegies in the wok. Something about that image really got to her...perhaps the simplicity of it all. By the sounds of the markets there the vegies seem to be the safest option I reckon. Great to see that you are both having such a good time. May Tara, the goddess of protection, embrace you both. love from Trev x x.
Shizle Hey girls got on to check your blog cant wait to see more photo's hope you are having a great time.
thanks so much jessi for the awsome time cant wait untill you come and visit. i will have to email you the fantastic ugly photo of you and me lol.
going to cambodia dear jeffi and darc. i like your attitude. i am going with my" family" who survived the days of the killing fields, back to cambodia in a couple of weeks. i am reading the travel blogs. i like your attitude. you are good travelers and people you meet will like you and i can tell you are good ambassadors from the usa. (which as we all know we sorely need) take care, have fun, find joy and stay safe and healthy and happy trails.
What the!!!! Jess/ Darc
Hash on your pizza's sounds maniac. I love Trev's comments trying to be funny but at the same time quite serious. Just like India hey Trev, bringing back the memories. I rekon that American dollar thing is rubbish i would only pay in local currency terms. The reason for the American thing is to get more money of you cause they round it up by dollars instead of cents so to speak. Sounds like an awesome time hey, really makes us want to start our tour of Asia sooner rather than later.
Take care and keep us posted.
Maca and Jay xxxx
sounds great Oh hey good photos girls, they really make all of yr blogs come to life. Phnom Penh was in the headlines all through my teenagehood along with Khmer Rouge and Pol Pot, it all seemed a bit unreal then and now, I guess you have to be there to really get it. Not much news from here because you've only been gone 4 days !!! can you believe that. Marg is back from Cuba, coming around for photo showings and dinner. Some cuban cuisine is in order I guess, what on earth do they eat? Anyway I've been to the dentist and somebody got shot in broad daylight in Logan yesterday. Hey bye girls Ma
G'day Hi Darc and Jeffi. The trip is reading like a bit of adventure with the US$ haunting you all the way!! Seems reall odd that averything appears to be sold on foreign currency for the tourists. The experience with the 'killing fields' must have been truely amazing and yes I agree that the peole must be damaged as well. So even though the country has not been open for tourism for all that long, the tourist is really catered for or is still very raw? The fencing has finally started on the side boundry in Brunswick. It has been really draing to the point that I have felt sick with frustration at the progress going nowwhere day after day with a guy who olny has this 1 week to complete it due to other committments, has no money at all so I have had to put the $ up front so as he can buy materials and I have stayed at home all week to keep an eye on their decision making processes. Selecting the lowest price is not recommended - I should have known better!!! Travelling sounds like the pick of options! Have a great time and we look forward to the next installment in the travel diaries. T and A xx (1 each)
Wow... Hey guys,
Sounds like you are havin the most amazing trip, what an experience! Everythings the same here in big bad Australia, except for this FRICKING hot heat wave in Melbs...it's drivin' me insane! Keep up the blogging, it's great to read and see about your adventures! Stay safe girlies!
xoxoxo
Phnom Penh Yeah, the Khmer Rouge were definitely a bunch of baddies. It is amazing what extreme behaviours human beings are capable of, on both ends of the spectrum. Don't worry about people trying to get into your room at night Jeffi...it won't happen if you just lock the door. Go to sleep! It does take a little getting used to with all of the stimulation, people and noise around you all of the time. Very soon that will become normal and then quiet will be too quiet. The fresh coconut juice is wonderful isn't it? In "the old days" in Sri Lanka in bush-hospitals they apparently used to filter a certain type of (orange outer casing)coconut water/juice and put it into very sick people via intravenous drip instead of injectable intravenous water.....amazing stuff! Have fun, look after each other. luv Trev x.
Hey Chicks You guys sound like your havin a fuckin awesome time already.....so wish i was there. cant wait till you put some photos up..make sure you do the thngy? ill have some pizza n a sprinkle of hash fuck yeh, make it a side. hehe.
ill chat to you guys soon. take care. travel safe.
Em.
New Arrivals Dear Jeffi and Darc. Glad to see that you both received your initial blast of sensory overstimulation. Takes a while to suss out the "100 guys wanting to take you everywhere all the time". Watch the happy stuff as you might end up taking a nappy and wake up broke(y). Looks like pizza hut have an untapped market in Australia. Have fun, enjoy the ride. Chat soon. love Trev
So...Darc and Jess are off and about in South East Asia and we just wanted to share some of our special adventures with everyone (maybs even make you just a tad jelous)
