The article, "Women's rights threatened in Iraq, Afghanistan" by Joel Brinkley, published 4:00 am, Sunday, May 24, 2009, states that "In the United States, woman have fought for 200 years to win equal rights and have come a very long way. In Iraq and Afghanistan, women must climb a far steeper hill". This shows that in Iraq, women still have a hard time being visible in their country. In America today, women have the right of freedom of speech, the right to vote, to run for president and more. America women are free to succeed in their own careers, when in Iraq, women do not have as much freedom and independent. They depend on their husbands.
