Hellooooooooo Hello Laura! I've been reading up on your trip when I remember to....the pictures and journals are amazing, and everything looks wonderful. Hope this finds you well, and drop me a line when you come home :) Love love love
thank you Hey Jeff,
Thankyou for writing such a wonderful thing about kochi since I myself belong to kochi.Ihope u mean every word of what u have said esp that kochiites are not out there just to grab money and also that the people were genuinely helpful and hospitable
I'm catching up on a bunch of entries in one go and it's slightly disorienting (in a good way) to be flying through India- it's surprising to look up from my computer and still be in Ohio. I like the photo of you with the blue ladies. it would be amazing if you were in a blue sari too...
Happy Buddha Enlightenment Day! How appropriate that I should read your blog today of all days! After learning about India for years and seeing pictures youd think Id be used to the stunning imagery - but it still mezmorizes me! The colors and the beauty of the people! Love your blogs honey - I can visualize it in my head through your words... Hope alls welll - and quit getting sick! Thats no fun ........
great photos Hi, glad you're all recovered! I really like your goat photo and the picture of the three boys. And the very large teeth on the crocodile. Do you get contact information from your subjects so you can send them the photos later?
Happy b-day to Jeff too! :)
-Harlan
Elephants and Temples - Oh My! Wow! The temple looks amazing - and who can resist a painted elephant! Funny how the description of your room the first night is in such close proximity to something so beautiful as the temple - maybe that adds to the allure of India - the drastic contrasts...hmmmnn. Either way I wanna go now thanks to you and your blogs : )
Hey lady! Oh my - Pepsi for my baby huh - I think the banana was a good option. Just wanted to say hello and once again tell you how much I love your blogs! Im in New York right now for Spring Break exploring for the week - fun, fun.... How much longer do you have left? Ive lost track... I miss you!
I need more stories! Hey there kids! I love reading about your travels, and look forward to your new blogs, however, where have you gone? How will I pretend I am there if I have no stories! More More More!!! (please ;) I hope that you are doing well and having a fabulous time!!
taxi same same in bangkok also, we had similar experience with taxis in bangkok. we could not understand why they refused to take us to our place - it was at least 5 miles away and so we thought a good fare. we spent much time searching for a cab and then they were crabby about the whoel thing... i don't know
Mumbai Mumbai does have auto-rickshaw's but they only ply beyond city limits (in the suburbs, main city is quite small and only taxi's are allowed to ply)
General notion people of Mumbai have about Mumbai is that people drive much better than Delhi and go anywhere you want to go unlike Delhi....but seems like thats not always the case ;)
Unlike Delhi, Mumbai has no rule for the life of the taxis so the old Fiat taxi's are on roads for ages (in Delhi a Taxi cant work beyond 8 years)
Mumbai like Manhattan is the financial capital of India and like Manhattan is an island which can only expand vertically (hence space is a preimum) and i guess thats why tiny/stuffy rooms are more or less a norm .
Hi guys, Nice to read about Delhi - my experince here is a little different... 1 day (I fly out tonight) and it rained constantly. The city becomes one huge mud/poo puddle - not very nice! As for Agra, I actually liked it! I stayed there 3 days, and the baby Taj was really good, but I think it would have been too much to have included it on your day trip. Hope the caves are superb. Great photos (of course).
PS A small correction - the Jama Masjid is the biggest mosque in India, but like many things in India, they've exaggerated its world-wide prominence... The Kaaba in Saudi is the biggest by far, and I think the new mosque in Casablanca (Morocco) is the second biggest. If I remember correctly, it holds 200 000 people, and having been in it, it's certainly bigger than the Jama Masjid anyway. Otherwise superb blog - I'm gonna keep reading...
I think you should sell your blog to National Geographic. I also vote that Madison becomes much, much, more colorful. All of your pictures are amazing (both in content and quality) but one of my favorites is the "Blue Stairs." Take care Miss Laura!
Amazing Laura, your trip looks amazing, absolutely amazing. Even though the "attractions" of Bahrain ended up being disappointing (and the welcome of American visitors), I get the impression that you could write an entire book just about the city and its emptiness. Not that you couldn't do that anywhere else or your trip, but I at least benefitted from your amazing pictures and journaling. I hope India is going amazingly (I'm about to read your Delhi entry), and guess what, there's a special day coming up on Tuesday... I'll email you to ask about your plans. :-D Much love, Anna
P.S. Bush is not the entire problem, even those of us who hate America and what we stand for are a large part of the problem... I'm sorry world!
best pictures ever! wow, you sound like you guys are having a blast! and the pictures you took are amazing. keep writing in this thing, it's great to hear what you're doing on the other side of the planet! xo
Laura's Travel Blog
Jeff and I just hit a great fork in the road--I just graduated college and the grant for his non-profit job has ended--so we figure it's a great time to travel. We're spending a moment in Amsterdam and Bahrain before heading on to India, Nepal, Thailand, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Vietnam and Indonesia, for a total of 11 months of travel.... full info
