Hey sis, Awesome pics! Did you grab me a lantern? I want to celebrate my 40th BD (yeah girl-only 2 more years before you are forced to admit u have an older sister who is that old!) with a massive Buddha style street party! Fire breathing dragon and all! Gonna start planning that now. Im sure the city will have no problem issuing me permits. : ) How was seeing Mom and Nana and Cam? I bet hugging and kissing actual family after all this time was a hoot and a half! I know Mom and Nana are still recovering! xoxoxoxoxoxoxo Cant wait til I can hug you too. I really really miss you and these pics of you make me teary!! All my love and prayers remain with you eternally- Love, D xoxoxoxo

Hi Ian! Sorry for the late response, I just had my family in to visit, so I've been super busy!! Anyway, here goes: I was already here with a teaching job secured when I had to do my visa run, they had just put the wrong address on my visa, so officially I was working illegally, which is why my school sent me on the visa run. So I did already have a working visa. If you have the money to come over and would be more comfortable checking the country out before teaching, then by all means, head over and check it out. I'm sure a company would be very happy to take you on, knowing they only had to pay for your visa run to Japan instead of flying you all the way over from the states. There is a fair bit of paperwork that an employer in Korea will need though, so it wouldn't be a bad idea to talk to your brother and get all your documents together in the states, so that you don't have to start contacting people at home to get your paperwork together for you. (Background check, diploma, etc..) Hope this helps...let me know if you have any more questions! Kailie

Visa Run
Hi, I was checking out your story about your Japanese visa run and I was hoping you could answer a few questions I had about the process. were you already teaching in Korea when you went to Japan to get a visa? What visa did you have originally? I am planning on visiting my brother who teaches in Suwon, and I was hoping to get a feel for the country before I decided to teach there. Do you think this is feasible? Would I be able to land a job once in Korea and then get my very first visa from a neighboring country like Japan? I plan to enter Korea without any visa at all, I'm American and I think I am allowed to be there for 90 days without a visa. It sounded like your Japan trip was a worthwhile excursion from Korea. Also, do you think i would be allowed to go to Korea without a visa if I booked a one way flight? I would really appreciate any advice you may have for someone in my position. Thanks a lot. Ian

Kailie, What a great blog! It is so descriptive that I felt like I was right there with you, maybe we can refer back to it while in Fukuoka to stay away from the red light district (one of those with Nana is enough) LOL....and to find a nice little tapas place to eat. Another great entry that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. Love you baby, and counting down the days. XOXOXO

so proud!
Hi sweet sister...sorry it has taken me this long to read your blogs. I have been bogged down by the grad school stuff and Cameron's journals. I LOVE reading your experiences and hearing what an awesome teacher you are! I really am so proud of you for doing what you're doing. You will always cherish the time you spent there with those kids, and they will remember you forever. You light up every room you walk into. Those kids are so lucky to have you as their Kailie Teacher! Love you so much!! xo

Vinegar!
Ohh Pat that's awesome. I will tell Tim. I'm sure he thanks you in advance, because he's always complaining about his smelly apartment. Plus he's a boy, so it probably only makes it worse. Ha! Also, I hope to get photos up before too long, so you guys can actually see what I'm talking about..including the kids. They're so cute!! Thanks for reading!

bad odors
Strange as it might sound, white vinegar eliminates odors. If you keep a bowl of it hidden away or spray an offensive region often, the smell will disappear. The vinegar smell will disappear, too.

love it!
Heated floors in your apartment?! That makes so much sense. What a luxury! I was so happy to hear that you have a great place to live. I love your description of your interaction with the little girl, Julie. Despite the fact the father did not give you eye contact or speak to you, I am sure he will repeat your story to many people. Heartwarming! Can't wait to see more photos. Pat

Man I really wished that story was going to end up differently - something even more disturbing than just smelly neighbors but LOL nonetheless I enjoyed this blog and feel sorry for Tim but glad you lucked out with what seems like I perfect sized, quaint living space! Hope all is well, can’t wait to hear stories of your students and teaching. Till next time :)

Creep Room
Haha! I published this, then remembered that I left out the creep room all together. I started to write about it, then mom called me, so I started talking to her. You must've read the blog in that in between time. Nice. I just added the rest about the creep room, so check it out! xoxo

Fooooood!
Sometimes I wish I knew what I could order, but we have learned a few dishes that we like, so I actually had what I wanted for dinner today, so that was cool. For the most part though, I don't mind being surprised..it's part of the fun. We've eaten some really weird shit. It definitely scares me, but I like that. And Tim will eat everything, so I don't worry about quantity. I eat myself full and he eats the rest..works out rather well. We haven't had a meal that was all disgusting yet. There have been plenty of disgusting things, but you can just choose not to eat it and eat the good stuff. But it's definitely a game of chance trying everything!!

Food
Another great blog! Do you ever wish you could just know what type of food they have, you want and order it? Doesnt it scare you to have no idea what your about to eat ... and for that matter the quantity, do you always finish it all or are you throwing a lot out. After this blog all i can picture is the two of you patiently waiting on whatever these ladies think you would appreciate to eat, you get it - it tastes disgusting but inorder to not be rude you sit there miserable consuming it!
