Response to FAQs Thanks for the quick response. We just read your FAQs and thought we would comment before we read the rest of your blog. Two things:
1. Let us know which places you will be travelling to and if we have any friends/acquaintances etc in any of these places, we will let them know and who knows, they may allow you to sleep on their floors for $5.00 Canadian Dollars or less (real deal since your buck is worth more than ours). If you told us of the places you were travelling to, our apologies for having forgotten so soon. I, Bernie was probably thinking about some question to ask while you were telling us about the places you were planning to see OR I just plain forgot. My short term memory is getting worse all the time but at my age, I'm entitled to forget things. Old age does have certain perogatives, I think.
2. We loved your witty Qs and As. Is the phrase "Cheapness trumps girliness" copyright? If so, do we have your permission to use the phrase as approriate? We promise to use it only in Canada and to always cite the source.
P.S. This email is being sent from Koh Phangan on November 5, 2006, which just happens to be a full moon. We came to Koh P this am and plan to leave on the 1:00 a.m. ferry-the first ferry that leaves after 16:30 hours, which of course is to early to leave since the Moon Party only starts at about 19:00 or 20:00 hours. We are really noticeable since the mean age seems to be 28.5 years. All of the young people are very nice and pleasant to us. As Moria said in her FAQs, there are some things which one has to experience before it's too late. We may never have the chance to experience a Full-Moon party on Phangan again. It's 6:00 pm and we are catching up on our emails (and will be reading your trip comments) while waiting for the FM Party to start.
E-coli........I remember that little fecker well. Mine was of the Ecuadorian persuasion, but I'm sure the effect is pretty similar!!! Just remember, you’re not a real traveller till you’ve had e-coli and if you can catch yourself a dose of malaria you’ll really be on the road to veteran status!!
Flagyl Kate: If the cipro doesn't work after a week, then you will have to start a course of Flagyl or Metronidazole. Not sure if you brought it with you. Ugh, what a nightmare with the belly problems. Hope you girls just get to a beach and relax and can swim in some nice, clean, pretty water. XOXO TB
Green with Envy Kate: I am so jealous of this wonderful journey that you and your friends are on. It sounds like the trip of a lifetime -- dysentery and all. Stay safe, have fun and I will await the next blog with such joy. Luckily, your Dad sent me the first one and now I'm hooked!! Keep them coming.

Beware of horrible people in "budget accomodations" Ket-Can we please not forget the horrible experience in Amsterdam with me and my dysentary and the uber wierd eastern euro girls with their mattresses on teh floor. Anywhere but a nice private hut on the beach or a four seasons is totally unacceptable. Now get yourself to a nice hotel and have a proper cocktail...it'll fix you up in no time flat!
miss you so, dear friend!
Too bad to hear that you were all sick. Hi,
I was just in Varkala in July and I enjoyed my stay. The small town atmosphere was really welcoming. Less Tourist and good food.
I did not swim in the water as it was raining and the tides were high.
Do checkout my small blog www.lostdesi.com
Cheers

Indian tucker in Aus If you get to spend Christmas with us, you can do the cooking a la Indian. We had a bloke from Goa have a bbq with us last weekend (along with 3 Iranians and an Iraqi). All friends of Tim and going to Newcastle Uni. We're off to bash a few Kiwis next week. Looking forward to your visit. Keep in touch and down as many taste sensations as the anal ring can manage. Love, Dave, K and tribe

Beau-ti-ful! Fitting that you visit such a beautiful place on my daughter's birthday. That's right, Heidi finally hooked me up with your blog address that I lost twice. My bad. Now the RSS link is on my google homepage so I'll always be in the know. Miss you, Moria!
Back Waters Dear All,
As pretty as it is and as much as you may want to DO NOT swim in the water in the Back Waters; save your swimming for the beach. Kerala's pretty laid back, so take the time (if you can) to rest and get your strength back. P.S. - Do you take a dose of pepto bismal every morning? It helps.
P.P.S. -Be sure to visit the beach at night to see the phosphorecense in the waves. Amazing!!

Making me think your post is making me wonder if I ever want to go to Inida...Is the ratio of bad stuff worth the good stuff? Very interesting though, I enjoy the reading at work.....while doing nothing...
Right on! That's what I'm talkign about Kettle! Sounds just wonderful...really wonderful. I'm so glad you are havign such a nice time and finding some good souls along the way. Now hurry up and get your culture in because I miss you! I can cook a pretty good meal too in NYC ;o)
Um... where's the dysentery? The title promised dysentery. I want dysentery! Or at least some mild nausea. Where's that part of your story??? Who cares about skinny donkeys. I want to know what you ate, and what it did to you! Make with the D!!!!
dogs are your friend hey Kate, don't listen to the nay-sayers, dogs are your friends, and so are camels, elephants and all other members of the animal kingdom, feel free to pet, hug and kiss all of gods creatures. Except of course for the damned cows, kill them on site!! DO IT
RABIES KILLS! I see you're ignoring my #1 piece of advice already, Ketty. In case you forgot what I said, Rabies is 100% lethal. That means if you get bit or you contract it from an animal's perspiration, YOU WILL DIE. Please do not laugh that off as I'm extremely interested in your future travels. Stay away from the dogs and monkeys. Check the CDC website if you don't believe me. Thik hain? Thik hain. OK. Sounds great so far! Love you. Can't wait to see your reaction to Jaipur! xox Tess
Wish I were there... Hey,back in the big smoke of Kerry, good fun, but would far rather be there with you right now, rather than here trying to decide what to do next! Poor Lucy, how's she doing?Tell her I said hi, I'll email soon xxx
So happy to hear that you arrived safely; it had to be quite an eye opener. Please do not be so anxious to test your invincibility with animals of all kinds. Freedom to do as you please is a rare commodity. Sorry to hear about your bag; rolling luggage is also a possibility if that is all that is available -- though the crowded conditions may curtail it. Thank Moiria for being so organized for me; it gives me great comfort.
oops hi,
i should have specified... only second class AC if you are traveling over night.. otherwise take the cattle car.
good luck with those intestines. yikes. no fun.
Don't bother to pack your bags or your map, we won't need them where we're going. We're going where the wind is blowing, not knowing where we're gonna stay. Holiday, far away, to stay. On a holiday, far away, let's go today in a heartbeat.... full info
