"Its not the external events that happen to us that have the power to make us happy or sad... but how we choose to respond to them that counts." Exactly right! But if I can change things, I try...not just accept things as they are. And if I can't change things, I may accept them for a bit, but I move on. Keep on blogging!
keep on blogging hello! i know - its a little behind at the moment. Yes - you are right - we need to change things if we can but the key (not that i've quite got here myself yet) is, i think, to ask "what could be better, what could i improve on here" and if we can - do that - rather than focus on the negative. Easier said than done! take care dd
Thanks for mentioning the coffee Lovely blog of a cruisy day in Eastern Cambodia...definitely helps when your guide has the skill to make banana flowers interesting. Having just returned from our first visit to Cambodia we are interested in other parts of that beautiful country to explore...gotta say the daily fatalities from land mines is of concern in isolated areas...so I'll let your feet do the steppin' and hope you remain safe.
sihanoukville... Hi Jane, thanks for your feedback...yes a day spent schlepping around Sihanoukville centre was definitely the low light of an otherwise fantastic time in Cambodia! dd
Perfect, the single best blog I have ever read on Pol Pot in Cambodia. You put into words i could not find what really happened, and explained how it could and did happen. Your blog is superb, you should be amazingly proud of the wisdom and honesty in your words. Thank you :)
The Killing fields Hi, thank you for your feedback and kind words. It was a difficult thing to write about (hence why the blog is now so behind!) but i wanted to do it justice and with sensitivity, and i'm really glad that you think i managed that.
all the best d
The rabbit hole Thank you for this extensive view of the Killing Fields. I chickened out on seeing this. I understand your ambivalence and applaud your sensitivity. Such an horrific historical time.
The Killing Fields Thank you for your feedback, i really appreciate it and for you to take the time to read my blog. It was a very difficult thing to view and i understand not wanting to, in the end i'm glad for the experience though.
all the best, dd
humans... I hope you are right! I agree that on a personal level most people have the capacity for much loveliness, however we seem to have this innate 'us and them' quality that keeps fuelling wars, ugly border protection paranoia, and expensive man sports involving some sort of ball :)
info Belize please as soon as possible. Hi
I am hoping to get some info on going around on our own,is it safe, also can we book tours right on the island of Caye caulker, and what was the price you paid for the tour you went on.thank you.
Judy
Belize and Caye Caulker tours Hi Judy,
I've heard that Belize city can be unsafe but i didn't stay overnight there and personally found Caye Caulker absolutely fine. Its a very small island and the locals are friendly.
I booked a one day snorkelling trip to see sting rays and reef sharks with Ragamuffin Tours - who are located on the main strip of the island. They are the company that GA Adventures use for their organised tours of Belize and you can also do sunset cruises and 3 day trips with them as well. I had a great time and would recommend them.
Getting up close and personal with the amazing marine life here is still one of my best experiences so far! I' m sorry i didn't make a note of how much I paid but their website is telling me it would be about $70 for the day trip.

Love this place! congrats on your blogger of the week award. Brought back good memories of Sapa. We stayed at Mountain View and had a wonderful guide called Sho. How good is their English?
the emaciated mannequins... ...seriously freak me out! and I agree with your last para - however it seems to me that our selfishness and self preservation will always override our redeeming qualities.
emaciated mannequins Hello,
I mean this in the best possible way - but I hope you are wrong! - i don't want to stop believing in our capacity for goodness ...:)
west end theatre I just came onto your post and found it quite interesting. I am also associated with london theatre tickets, vip hospitality, london theatre tickets, london theatre packages, and manchester arena tickets

theatre review Hi, thanks for your feedback, that's great - i really appreciate it. My background is in the arts too so i'm always interested to see that side of a culture and community. I was just thinking recently about trying to incorporate more into my blogs so this is a great prompt to do just that :)
take care

Hi
I´m 37 and have lived in London most of my life. I studied English at University and was an actress for a few years before moving into marketing - most recently working for Arsenal Football Club.
But...life is too short to be little...and that's why I´ve just given up my job to go travelling for a year :)
