I really like Lampang, a small city with virtually no tourist attractions about an hour south of Chaing Mai. After the tourism ridiculousness of Chaing Mai, it was a welcome change. All Lampang is known for is horse-drawn carriages (left over from Portugese teak traders) and of course, teak. Although there are not a ton of teak structures left, there were still a few including my wonderful guesthouse, where I hope I go back some day. The other thing I think Lampang should be known for is its dozens of hair salons. This is a city of about 40,000 people and I think ther is one hair salon for every 10 people. Since none of the salons seemed particularly busy, I really don't know how they stay open. One of the few tourist attractions near Lampang
