Follow up! Oh, I SO want to hear what happens when you run into the woman who woke you up! Seriously? If the phone number was wrong, did she really think the room number wouldn't be? Sheesh.
Great reminder! I’ve made a mental note to remember the passport protocol, so that I am not similarly “busted” on future trips! Still working on getting my EU passport, but plan to set those wheels in motion soon! Thanks for the heads up!!
Innocents Abroad Truly your humor and attitude are reminiscent of Mark Twain. Each new adventure brings a smile. I’m so glad you continue to provide enjoyment for those at home. And very glad the mythic wine case was able too o accompany you. Bon voyage.
What happened? Hi....so did you ever find out exactly what caused the power outage? At least it happened in Alaska and not the south Pacific! Glacier bay and the Hubbard are indeed awe inspiring. I'm so happy that the powers-that-be only allow one ship into the area at a time. Keep enjoying everything......
Technical Difficulties Wow! While there have been minor glitches on cruises I've been on, never have I experienced a complete power failure! Thankful they worked it out, but surprised it took as long as it did. Was sorry to hear you weren't able to dock in Juneau, as I thought it was a really cute town. I did take the helicopter up to the glacier, but it was about 20 years ago now--definitely my primary splurge for the whole trip, but glad the Hubbard Glacier didn't disappoint.
Enjoying reading about your escapades, and glad you're able to relax and spend time with good friends. Looking forward to hearing your impressions of Sitka, as it was my favorite port all those years ago,
Some people!!! Yes, some people shouldn't leave home...not you for sure but the crazy woman in the morning and the 2 falling down fellows in the afternoon...yikes! Sounds like you made the best of the situation(s) with humor, understanding, books, cards, food, snacks, drinks, food, food, drinks........and on and on! Hope the weather settled down up there. The photos of the glacier and water Christopher sent were beautiful. Hopefully the rest of your gang is enjoying the trip as well.
Yum...oh yum.... Need I say more? Oh yes. Vancouver, albeit anywhere in Canada, is a good place for poutine...ask around....and I just figured out your blog name when I said it aloud...you clever fellow! Enjoy day 2!
What a thoroughly delicious description of the daily happenings. I'm salivating already....can you tell there's an epicurean theme to my responses as well as your tasty blog? Can't wait for installment 2. Cheers to you both! Oops...put the comment in the title box.....for shame.....

Red cabbage?
I LOVE red cabbage; at least the way my mom made it (I have the recipe!). How does O make theirs? :-)
