The bike stored away safely in the huge bike carriage of the train (never seen anything like this in Britain), I'm on my way to Berlin, through the Czech Republic. Quiet ride, lots of time to read, look out of the window, think about what's to come. Soon, I'm hungry, head for the board restaurant, where I have some gulasch from a tin, disgusting. Seems the quality of Czech train restaurants is not quite up to Austrian standards yet, judging from this experience. I hope I'm wrong. In Prague (a city I should definitely visit sometime), two American girls come in and start chatting to an English guy next to them. One can almost hear the sigh going through the train when they start off with the usual questions. But why is it always the Americans?
