Hi Sheila, I always laugh when reading your blogs. They have a real human element to them. I am happy to read your adventures as we will be there in November/December. If you can come back to the Philippines later in the year we would love to meet you.
Hi Sheila, Another great blog. This was very informational for us as we will be in the Philippines in late November/ early December. We would like to go to Oslob to swim with the whale sharks and dolphins. Did you enjoy that? Another wonderful blog...glad you had some time away.
:) I had tea, in that building, when I was in Shanghai, around 14 years ago. It is really beautiful. Apparently, a queen of England once had tea there too. :)
Hi Sheila We have really missed your blogs. Thanks for writing again. With all that you have been doing it sounds like you could write several blogs. I'd love to hear more about your Mandarin classes. How wonderful that you have been invited into the country with your local friends. Your life sounds wonderful! It was good that you were kind to the young girl who was checking you in at the reservations desk. Sounds like she was a bit too nervous. Can't wait to read more. Happy travels and exploring.
We are both nurses This was a wonderful blog and we really enjoyed hearing about treatment and medicine in other countries. Keep up the blogging. Hope you will have another one soon. Looks like you have several followers now.

I am moved after reading your blogs, you're so optimistic, because you often see the funny side of new situations, I am a student in xi'an,China,my major is tourism,I want to communicate with you,you said"I've been noticing those things that are "different" about China and the Chinese people - what makes them unique. I've already squashed a few of my pre-conceived notions. Great Take on Kashgar! Great writing and great pictures of Kashgar. Also great that you were open to seeking out the local woman who wanted to practice her English. My wife and I also consider Kashgar 'the best'. We were there 10 days ago!
Excellent blog. It was interesting to hear about the disrepair. I knew it existed but not to that extent. Nice photo in the watch tower. Keep blogging and I'm very happy to see you on the front page!! Awesome.

Great blog, keep up the good work! I enjoyed reading your blog and I admire your determination. Despite only having arrived in Beijing a short while ago, you are a very prolific traveller and writer. Your insight into cultural differences and all the good, new things that China has to offer are an inspiration to all of us here on the same boat. I look forward to reading more of your stories! Hi,
This blog is what it says in the title: The Great Walsh of China - an Irish grannie in China and beyond.
That's me - I'm a "mature traveller" which means I'm on the sunny side of 65 and I've been getting around a lot in recent years. My five kids have grown up and are scattered throughout the Western world. I now have five delightful grandchildren. For some years I've been taking overseas assignments so I can see the world and meet the people in a way I could never afford as a tourist.
