Almost like I was actually there... Oh wait, I WAS there ! I've looked through your blog photos several times, and each time, it's like visiting Thailand/Cambodia all over again. Thanks for sharing your wonderful photos and your unique travel perspective. Teresa and Mark in Cincinnati, OH.

Elephant riding sans mahout For me the part of riding the elephant that caused me the most concern was when the mahout (handler) dismounted from her to take our picture. He was off for several minutes while she stood and posed with us on her back. I was worried that she would take off and we would be on a wild ride upon a driverless elephant! Of course, when she entered the river to wade downstream I couldn't help but think of the slippery rocks ... The elephant camp was a wonderful experience, and the ride was a huge thrill for me too!
This day in Cambodia It was a full day for sure! I remember our tour director commenting how "BEUUUTIFULLLLL" the carvings of the women at the temple were/are. Nice full lips, hips, and bosoms! He had all of the ladies in the group pose for a picture there. Everybody was supposed to hold their hands a certain way, mimicing the carved ladies, the different poses signifying: "Married", "Virgin", and something else that I don't remember. Only about 1/3 of the women in our group mimiced the carvings, the rest just smiled.
Elephant I loved the Orchid - exciting elephant experience - what a Diary you have ! I know your family was excited over the pictures -look forward to balance of your trip.
Just Loving Your Trip I don't what I love more, the stories you tell or the pictures you have included. The girl with the neck rings is just beautiful but when I read that it is 20 pounds and she had to start wearing when she was 5 --- well, just a great read and I enjoy your trip so much.
Traveling along w/you `each day of your journey is wonderful and exciting -you seem to never get tired but that is what I remember about you -also amazing all the countries children are in need and you are there with a treat for them. The pictures are beautiful - you make us feel as we are on the trip with you.
your photos and writing Seriously, these photos could be in National Geographic. And your writing? you should be in journalism... oh wait...hmmn.
Anyhow, I hope you brought me back a baby monkey!!!!
Love and miss you!
Happy New Year! It is so wonderful to hear the excitement in your words. I am eagerly looking forward to seeing the pics, especially the one of you on the elephant. It will certainly add to the enchantment of your office. Thanks for the vicarious thrill of travels in Thailand.
