Tub I know. . .I was so happy to see my room has a tub. . .my left hip has really been bothering me since my walk. The park is paved with stones so the path's surface has no give to it. There is a nicely groomed dirt path that runs along the river. I'll ask if it would be safe for me to walk there and if so I think I'll hurt less after my next long walk. I miss you too! Wendy
A Tub Well, the new flood-free bathroom looks like it has a tub in it so you can soak your sore hip in it. The dog looks interesting and you are having fun. That is what counts. Miss you, Mom
Winter Sunlight Camha, it could be my camera or that the winter sunlight is not as intense or bright as in Summer time. I'm not sure. My camera is getting pretty old. The zoom len makes a little grinding noise these days when I'm zooming in or out. Hopefully it will survive this trip.
Fun Experience. . . Sophia,
I am having such a good time here in Beijing. I know we will do many more fun things together. I'm so glad I came here and got to meet all of you. :)

Toilets and other things. . . Xiaomei. . .actually when I was in Argentina we went to several bathrooms that had these low toilets. But I didn't take any pictures at the time. I knew some of my friends and family would find it very interesting because it's so different than what we are used to. Some of my friends said they are also very common in Italy. Isn't it wonderful how every country can have such varied ways of doing things? :)
Netti pot. . . The only problem I see with that is that I might be trying to work up a reaction and a huge gush of salt water might squirt out my nose and ruin my reaction. Hehehe!
Plum.X Thank you for sharing your travel experience. I hope to get out on the weekends and see as much as possible. I will likely be coming back for future business trips and will be able to visit the places I miss on this trip. This weekend some of the girls I've been working with are taking me to the Great Wall and I think to the Forbidden City. I'm very much looking forward to it. Take care and happy travels!
Good flight Paola,
The flight was good but incredibly long. But not as when I flew to Argentina. . .the total travel time for my friend and I was 25 hours. I looked like I'd been put through the wringer by the time we arrived.

Hi Wendy, so glad you arrived safely and are having a good time. The toilet thing need time to get used to. Even I grew up with it, I'm still not used to it now when I visit home. Keep me updated on the other stuff too. Take care.
Squat-a-torium There are a few things that the western world has produced that really are worth while. The toilet ranks up in the top two. I think the automobile is the top one. (hehehehehehe)
You appear to be enjoying Beijing, I hope you continue to! The air quality will improve after the dust storms, and it's not so bad as you'll have been led to believe. You've got the heat of the summer to look forward to yet. When I was there we had some great storms.
I hope you get to do some travelling whilst you're here. You have your first taste of festival time in China this wknd. Qing Ming ('Tomb Sweeping' a poor translation, but popular) is upon us and now China opens up for tourists. Train travel is somewhat frantic. If you ever want to feel like a homeless refugee, try taking a long distance train! It's actually quite good fun. Also, don't visit Hangzhou during a festival. The city is always in a frenzy and the roads gridlocked.
Get some work done, but get out and about too!
Take care,

Hello and welcome! I live in beautiful San Diego, California, but I was originally born in Texas and have moved 42 times in my life. I grew up on the move and travel is second nature to me. I thoroughly enjoy the outdoors. . .hiking, mountain biking, snorkeling (and I'll be getting scuba certified with some friends this summer). My most recent trips have been to Peru (hiking to Machu Picchu), Argentina (trekking through the forest to Iguazu Falls) and Beijing (climbing along some of the steeper sections of the Great Wall). Next August I was planning a trip to Iceland and later on a trip t... full info
