We headed to Huangshan City on an overnight train from Shanghai arriving close to mid-morning. We walked out of the terminal and had the luck of a tour guide looking to share a cab to Taiping, which is the town at the base of the Huangshan Mountains. The guide was very nice, spoke English well, and runs a bed and breakfast. He tried to convince us to stay with him (we should have). We declined even after reading his notebook of guest comments, which were glowing. He showed us that he is listed in Lonely Planet and one other guide book I can not remember the name of.
