tricky going We had a tricky ride over the mountains from Andagala to Ruta 40. in drizzly/misty very slippery conditions with a fair few bikes going down. One bike actually went over the edge and had to be pulled back using the support truck.
We also had to contend with several rock slips, some of which were way heavier than the truck , so we had to build a make shift ramp over some of the bigger boulders to get the truck through.
The break away group of 5 riders stopped at Santa Maria for fuel and wait for the others to come in, but Greg rode solo up to us to tell us that there were problems and the group collectively decided to continue on to Salta, some 230kms distant. So another late finish. At this time I have no idea where the others bedded down.
At this time right now,it is still drizzling and our plan is to head today to San Antonio de los cobres(4000m). Apparently to have this much rain here at this time of the year is unheard of....bloody typical!
I am shitting mysef, but having a great time, although I seriously need to think about a lighter moto, 300kgs in soft sand is like riding wild bull!

No Rain!!! I notice there's no rain as yet??? Whats going on?? hasn't the curse of Irvine descended yet???
Looks like fun saving our pennies for next time maybe...
Boulders and Navigators Hi Zane, suggest you get Lance to go the other left next time and advoid the boulders! Blogs really great even I can actually use it!The slips, floods and river crossings sounds definitely boys stuff bet you're loving the bits that would have my eyeslids hard shut! Can see you are right into the swing of things after a week Enjoy Jen
Aie Aie Aie Reassuring to read in the LAST line that all the bike dropping resultet in no injuries. You could have written that a little further up ;-)
A little comment from the accountant back home... the bike will have to be ridden in the shape and form it comes back from South America....
Good to know you guys are having fun while the wifes back home are so sad from missing you and are crying their eyes out.

They have departed. Amongst many tears (mainly bugsy's) remaining team members safely departed on time from Auckland.
All supporters wish them a safe and enjoyable time. Suggest all team members watch out for TL's blue tack dependancy.
