I'm a Computer Science Engineer who is also a trekking enthusiast . I travel a lot and love photography esp. Wildlife photography (Yup I perfectly fit the category of Engineer with a DSLR). I have already traveled quite a bit over India (mainly South India).
This blog is mainly to mainly help those who want to visit the places get a good grip on how the experience would be so that it makes it easy for them to decide.
Apart from this, I love sports and play tennis, table tennis, badminton and cricket. I am also an avid fiction books reader who likes fantasy, mysteries and action.

It has been a while since I last wrote a blog post (more than an year :-o). I moved to the US as part of my work and it took me time to get settled here. I also had my wedding bells ringing a few months back and it took this long for everything to calm down so that I could motivate myself again to continue writing about my adventures. I shall start with the latest and then start filling the ones I have missed since July 2018. On September 7, 2019, Reddy, Yashwanth (KP) and I decided to head to the Tolmie Peak hike at the Rainier National Park. We took KP's car and started out at around 10 AM in the morning. I sat in the front seat beside KP not knowing his stringent ... read more

What is herping ? It's the act of searching for reptiles or amphibians. Its derived the same way as Herpetology which is the study of amphibians and replies ("herpein" in Greek means "to creep"). Sounds boring ? You will be surprised by how exciting it can be. How did I come about this ? Well my friend from pre-university college, Ashwin had visited the Amboli Herping camp the previous year and had posted some amazing shots of green vine snakes, frogs and so on which caught my attention since I love macro photography. I had inquired about the same the previous year too but had not been able to make the trip. This year I decided that before I moved to US, I had to do this and asked Nitin to join me. He agreed and ... read more

It had been stressful at work over the last few weeks and the temperature had soared to around 40 deg Celsius in Hyderabad. Staying at home getting fried did not seem enticing given the heat. As it had been a while since I had been to any trek, I thought what better way to chill than at the Himalayas. I looked for a few options in my bucket list but most of them were more than 7 days and I was not in a position to take such a long vacation. As I was browsing through Indiahikes, I saw Deoriatal Chandrashila trek as one of the options since it was of 5 days duration and was supposed to have beautiful views. The trek was also popular for the wildlife especially the variety of birds along the ... read more

"Wow, how have you not visited the Taj Mahal being in India ?" is the first reaction you get from most of the people when they get to know that you have not visited it yet. It sure is something to be ticked off by any proud Indian but I guess there are a lot of people who are in the same bucket. So was I until ....... When Abhishek Verma, one of my work mentors announced his marriage, all former teammates started making our plans to attend this much awaited wedding. When you travel that far, you might as well tick off a few places of interest from your bucket list and that is exactly what we decided to do. Initially, Nikhil suggested Nag Tibba trek as an option and as with any event, the ... read more

There are scenarios in life which you can only experience through your determination and grit. Kashmir Great Lakes (KGL) was one of those treks for which I had to keep trying before I could finally tick off my bucket list. Ever since I completed my Roopkund trek, I badly wanted to go for KGL after hearing glowing reviews and seeing the stunning photos of the vast landscapes. My first attempt was the same year as my Roopkund trek but due to threat of heavy rains in Kashmir, I did not get to registering for the trek. My second and third attempts were thwarted by the toxic environment in Kashmir post the death of Burhan Wani in Kashmir last year (Yes, we did register twice and had to cancel). Finally on my fourth attempt, I was successful ... read more

Amit was finally getting married. He had spent sleepless nights thinking about marriage and had even made this his ultimate goal a few months back. So, when a colleague achieves his topmost goal and invites you to attend his marriage 1800 km from your location, what do you do ? Accept the mission and be ready to travel, party, dance, eat and explore. It was a sudden revelation for most of the people (my ex-team is notorious for that) when Amit dropped us an email saying that he was engaged along with the invitation for his marriage. A few of us decided to attend his marriage and started thinking of the arrangements. Amit was extremely excited that we had decided to join him on his momentous occasion and made a host of arrangements to ensure we ... read more

There are things which you lust for from a long time and plan meticulously and then there are those which just happen by chance. My trek to Buran Ghati was due to the latter reason. Ankur, Bhavesh, Rahul and I had booked for KGL trek in July and decided that we ought to do one in May too since our vacations would refresh in July anyway. So we booked Rupin pass initially after seeing the glowing reviews from a number of trekkers. But then all of a sudden a lot more people were interested in joining us and since there were no more slots for the Rupin pass batch, we decided to shift our trek to Buran Ghati which seemed good. My first thoughts were that Indiahikes were just trying to publicize it to lure folks ... read more

Revisiting the heritage run series, Badami was my second of the Heritage runs organized by GoUNESCO. This was an upgrade from the 15 km run to a half marathon distance of 21 kms. Though Nitin was supposed to join me for this, he fell ill in the last moment and I was left to go solo on this. It was ironic since the previous time to Coorg, I had to cancel after registering since I had an injury just a week prior to the run. Nonetheless, I was high on enthusiasm after completing my comeback half marathon in Bangalore just the previous week. I booked the bus to Badami along with the stay and got ready to explore Badami. I reached the bus stand around 8 in the morning of 22nd October. My hotel, Rajsangam International ... read more

Plans. You can only plan so much and so early but if fate intervenes, then there is nothing much you can do about it. What had been a stellar early plan for a trek to Kashmir Great Lakes, had to be scrapped at the last moment which resulted in a trek to another place I had on my bucketlist. Kashmir fell into chaos in the first week of July 2016, when Burhan Wani was killed in an encounter by the military. Indiahikes assured us that we will not face any issues with the trek but most of us were not sure about the situation there and decided to cancel the trek. But we had already booked flights and so we decided to find an alternate trek. Though Indiahilkes offered us Hampta pass trek, I was very ... read more

A trip with the promise of a views of a beautiful hill station, a 15 km run and a chance to sharpen my photography skills. Three of my favourite hobbies and how could you say no to that ? I read about GoHeritage runs while browsing through the run events in India. I was intrigued and decided to check it out. I found out that GoHeritage runs were started by GoUNESCO, a group funded by UNESCO to increase the awareness of heritage sites. They had hosted a number of runs at Heritage sites in India previously and I thought I should give it a shot this time. It being in Ooty just made it all the more compelling as Ooty is one of the very popular hill stations of South India and I had not previously ... read more
