Day 3 and I've managed to shrug of Bangkok and Thailand and am now in Siem Reap, Cambodia. Bangkok smelled like a turkish wrestler's jockstrap (credit: Ronnie Barker) and having turned up there after a 15 hr flight, I was a little discombobulated, especially sitting next to a french guy on the bus who kept pointing out who and who weren't lady-boys. It's a lively city, no doubt, but even just a day there and the constant onslaught is a bit much. Then again, perhaps it grows on you! Met lots of American "gap yars" in the hostel I was in.
