Despite going to sleep at 1 a.m., we were all up at 7 a.m. and hungry. We left the apartment in search of food at 8 a.m. only to find out that Florence does not wake up that early. We finally got some food around 9:30 and then wandered around some more until we felt overwhelmed by jet lag and new sights. To make lunch “easy” we bought bread, butter and cheese for grilled cheese sandwiches. Back at the apartment, Naomi, Sam and I tackled the kitchen. We found the appropriate pans and utensils and lighted the stove. The stove was a small gas one, with a glass cover over the burners.
